day3 for me 5lbs gone! i can't believe this am i dreaming? I think working out makes it really work also! ok i'm really motivated now! I am ready to do this. I was so close to giving up last night. I work at a elementary school and the office is always full of candy so i picked up a piece of dove chocolate and i was really about to open it and pop it in my mouth but i thought about it and I was able to put it down. am i that addicted to food. That one piece of candy was like a drug addict saying no to drugs! So when i got off work I read the reponses to what i posted the other day about snacks and i went and bought some pork rinds and some celery. so the peanut butter and celery satisfied me. I just got to stay motivated and coming to this website really helps me stay on track, everybody looks so good in their before and after pictures.

    Re: wow!!

    Hi there,

Well done on being 5lbs down! It's a great way to lose weight, and fast early on too - great motivation!

We have all been there, feeling like were are food addicts and emphathise with you. But you won, and I think that is the hardest thing on day 3.

Are you on induction? If so, beware that peanut butter is an OWL food.

Hope you share the rest of your success with us

      Re: wow!!

I officially re-started Atkins on Monday and am already down 13lbs since Jan 1st. I've noticed that since Monday I've lost apx 3lbs a day. I agree the weightloss from Atkins is the best motivator around. I don't think I could lose weight on anything else if I didn't see numbers go down.

As for Peanut butter, it does have sugar and is not for induction.

I am wondering though is freshly ground almond butter is accepted? Anyone know?

Great job with the weight loss so far! It's very motivating to have results right away to keep up your momentum.

KUDOS TO YOU for putting down that Dove Chocolate! That's a VICTORY!

Like the other two have said, peanut butter is not allowed on Induction. It is allowed on Rung 3 (week 5 at the earliest) of OWL. We get a peanut butter that doesn't contain sugar and it's still really good.

As for almond butter, that is allowed on the Nuts and Seeds rung - rung 3 of OWL.

Yes - you can definitely eat it with cream cheese. Check out some of the flavoured cream cheeses at the store (but check the label for hidden carbs!).

Perhaps someone with more Atkin's knowledge can pipe in here = I believe you should consider cream cheese as a cheese and count it accordingly. Aprox 3 to 4 ounces a day maximum. Plus count the carbs.

                    Re: wow!!

Another nice thing to spread on celery sticks is pate!! Or you could make a spread using mashed avocado too

Here is a nice (legal for induction) recipe adapted from allrecipes.com
                    • 1 avocado
                    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
                    • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
                    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
                    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Cut the avocado in half. Remove the stone, and scoop out the pulp into a small bowl. Use a fork to mash the avocado. Stir in lemon juice, onion, salt and olive oil. Cover the bowl, and refrigerate for up to 1 hour before serving.

This would make 2 servings which stays within the 'special category' limit of 1/2 avocado.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                      Hello there,
You've already had wonderful suggestions and advice here. One thing that I have a question about is, do you have DANDR 2002? It's so important to have the book and read it. It has the acceptable food list for you to see what you are allowed and how much.
I like to make tuna salad or chicken salad and dip my celery sticks in it to eat, yummy!
                      Sincerely, Sherri
P.S. Congratulations on the 5 pounds gone forever!

I can relate with you I'm on day 8 now and for the first few days i would have killed for a peice of bread and a loaded baked potato but i keeped on the path and know i don't crave any of the foods i was eating previously. You just have to keep with it and keep after your goal but it sounds like your going great and i wish you the best of luck.
