  • My pounds

Well, I started induction on 12/29. I was 204 when I started, went down to 198. I got on the scale today and I was 203. I have been counting my carbs, even trying to watch the cheese. I swear to everyone, I have been eating clean. I have been to the gym every day this week, too -- cardio all days, weights MWF. I feel better and was really excited at first. But to get up and see this...ugh.

    Re: My pounds

So how about listing you menu. When I started last year I was in the same boat. I thought I was doing it right but after having had people look at my menu - it turned out it could be improved.
But with all the exercise you are doing I think you should rely on the measuring tape more than the scale. The scale does not tell the whole story. You are likely making muscle getting fit. It is a great thing. Way to go!!!

      Hi, Liv. Thank you.

Here is what I had yesterday:

egg/cream cheese breakfast (4 eggs, 4 oz. cream cheese, 2 oz. cream, 3 pkts. Splenda, baked for 30 mins., tea w/cream and 2 pkts. Splenda

2 cups romaine, oil and vinegar, one chicken breast

1 cup broccoli , Marie's blue cheese dressing and a few slices of London broil

flaxseed meal cookie (recipe that I found on here -- 2 T's flaxseed, water, and 1 pkt. Splenda)

      one Diet Rite

      64 oz. water

This was yesterday's menu. Other days look like this:

2 strips bacon, 2 eggs, tea w/cream and Splenda

      2 cups salad, heroin wings

      2 oz. cheddar

      1 cup broccoli, london broil

P.S. I'm 5'3" and no spring chicken. Maybe this is why things are going slowly.

Wow, Liv. I'm not awake yet. I had to edit my first post in this thread. I had lost 6 lbs. originally.

What jumps out to me is the amount of sweeteners you are using. You add them to food and drinks and you have a Diet Rite on top of that. We are limited to three sweeteners. So think about getting that down.
Exercising as you do I would drink a lot more water.
(And get that measuring tape going, it will keep you motivated )

              Re: My pounds

Yes, I was looking at that, too. I haven't had soda in the house for a couple of months, but my stomach felt bad the other day and I needed to sip a little. I think that at least the Diet Rite is the "healthiest" one in that is has no sodium or caffeine, and is sweetened with Splenda vs. aspartame.

But yes, I hear you. I love my tea in the morning...my husband gave me a box of some Irish tea for Christmas, and it is so delicious.

I'll try to keep it down to three. It's so hard sometimes...and you are right about the 3. I have the book.

Sometimes, I put the juice of a lemon in my water, too. I had kidney stones for the first time in my life in August, and I hope they never come back. Lemon water is supposed to be good for that, too, to keep your system clean.

I can drink coffee with just cream. But wow. I guess I'll have to really plan well because sometimes, there are those days when I just need something sweet so badly.

Thank you, Liv, for your input. I appreciate it.

                Re: My pounds

I think the more you feed that sugar craving monster that lives inside of you (and make you eat, eat and eat) the bigger it will get. Reducing it all, which is the point of induction, is about trying to kill the monster so we can get a more normal relationship to sweets. Not easy I know. Sugar was my big problem when I came to Atkins.

                  Re: My pounds

I hear ya...I just finished my tea with the two pkts. of Splenda. I've been aware of it and tried not to overdo it, but I guess I did anyway. So...I've got one left today! I'll see what happens overnight...

okay, so speaking of those little packets. I saw these splenda packets that contain 1 gram of fiber in addition to the splenda. Is that a good idea? Not?

                      Re: My pounds

I read a thread somewhere where they were 2 carbs per packet but got reduced to 1 carb per packet due to the fiber. It still doesn't help with the 3 packet rule, unfortunately.

Liv, is saccharine treated differently? I am getting ready for work at the moment, or I would look it up.

                        Hiya
Sorry for jumping in but I use the splenda tablets and have one in my coffee (normally 4 coffees a day).. the packet said trace carbs... I didn't see anything about fibre..

Are these a No No then???

                        Thanks

                          Goodcelt,

I was on atkins from August to November and pretty much followed the induction rules, I was also working out 4 days a week, teo of them weight training, I noticed that I was still losing inches here and there but nothing on the scale was moving. Since starting back on the second of Jan I have lost about 10lbs and I have not yet incorporated exercise into my daily routine. Always keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, by doing weight training you are building muscle that is why your #'s arent changing.

                            Tumtum,

The Splenda with fiber are new.. and marked on the box. if you just have the regular splenda that is not marked in green that they contain fiber, then they have none.

Actually a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat..........

Muscle just takes up less space.
