  • Atkins bars and induction

So I was wondering if I could eat any of the atkins bars during induction. While I was looking up product info I saw that some are approved for phase 1. Does this mean it is ok to at these during induction?

well, I will never eat them because they have sugar alcohols and tons of artificial chemicals.

They are not on the induction phase list from the book. They were added by the atkins company phase one list after Dr. A died. I treat them like the pure evil they are and avoid them. Way too many people stall on them and the shakes.

I and many others here say never to eat them and to avoid them for sure during induction. Induction should be a good time to get used to eating real food. Packaged Frankenfoods are just not good for you.

Hey baby, how do you like bald fat guys with no money?

in all honesty, about 4 years ago i stayed on extended induction for almost 8 months and lost 70 pounds. i DID use bars and was still able to consistently use. i know i'll get thrown to the wolves for saying that, but it's true, i ate them 3-4 times a week and was still able to lose quite a bit.

i am on back on the atkins wagon again and am doing induction without the bars this time to get the best results i possibly can and see how it goes without the bars.

so thats my experience with it...

I would say avoid them as long as you can and add then into your diet at a later point in time. Like Kevin said, they do tend to cause a stall in weight loss for most people. Best of luck!

Check the list of ingredients on all 'lowcarb' products to decide whether thay are OK for the phase of Atkins you are on. As far as I know all the bars include nuts or soya in them so would not be 'legal' till the relevant level/rung of OWL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I know that the last time I tried Atkins I ate the bars, especilly the cocount ones, at work and my weight was a stall out.
This time around I am not eating any bars or sugar free candy...and I am making sure that I check the labels real good for any hidden sugars. I ate a lot of smoke sausage, but come to find out, there was still quite a bit of sugar in it. I am making a habit of checking the labels.
So far, along with the extra water i have been drinking, I have managed to lose 14 lbs in the past week. I try to stick with the 60/35/5 ratio and I manage to get in about 1600 cal a day, but I don't go hungry.
            Watch those hidden sugars!!!
