This is my first time so please forgive me. If I send the wrong thing to the wrong place please forgive me.
Is it possible to eat too much cheese? Because of the amount of eggs I'm eating I am using a lot of cheese. I also love different cheeses and living in France it is very difficult.....

Also, I'm epileptic and I was wondering if anyone knew how the atkins diet would affect this. I've been on this diet for 5 days now and have been feeling great but I was wondering if my medication will affect my weight loss.

    Looking forward to getting replys...

    Re: cheese

I love cheese also but just take it in moderation. Add some Tabasco sauce on it for some change.

      Re: cheese

You are allowed no more than 4 ozs. of cheese a day on induction. It is very high in calories so eat it in moderation.

As for you medications, I have no idea if they will interfer or not but they might. Just wait and see how you first two weeks go.

Blueberrylady is correct. Have you read Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution 2002 version? The book is also referred to as DANDR here on the board. The book will let you know just what you can & cannot have.

          Re: cheese

Chesse appears to have different effects on everyone. You may need to experiement. I would discuss your diet with your doctor if you are epilectic. I know this type of diet has done wonders for children with certain kids of seizures.

            Re: cheese

Thanks for replying. It's so exciting.
Anyway, messed up last night with a dinner party.
            potatoes
            carrots
            cous cous
            coconut
            sugar
All very bad I know but at least no wine and I love wine.
How long will it take me to get back to the fat burning stage? I think I need to start all over again.
Thanks for the advise on cheese. I think I will have to cut back on that also.
Is it really necessary to buy the book or can I get al the information from this web site? It seems to have all the answers and help that I need...

thanks for that. I never thought of tabasco sauce. You've got me thinking now. Wouschester sauce would be another one...

                Re: cheese

There is lots in the book that is not on any websites, so I would suggest you would benefit from getting a copy. I often see them on the shelves for a very small price in the charity shops I visit, so it should not be too large an outlay - also many libraries will ahve copies you can borrow.

                  Re: cheese

you can only eat up to 4 ounces of cheese per day. i got a digital kitchen scale so that i can find out how much i am eating.

about the epilepsy, apparently a diet that is HIGH in fat has a good effect on epilepsy and can cut down the amount and severity of seizures. I think that some children with uncontrollable seizures are put on special diets of mostly fats, oils, butter, etc. and it is supposed to work wonders. i think you will have to do some research into that. i have a condition that may also be helped by this diet, so i will let u know if it has some effect!

                    Re: cheese

                    Cheese is my biggest downfall.
If you can figure out why you ate the potatoes and carrots, couscous and sugar and can figure out how to do better next time, you are learning and thats awesome. Maybe there was nothing else to eat at the party.. what if you had taken some low-carb treat to have. Our biggest hurdles sometimes are getting past the temptations. Plan for emergencies and you will do GREAT

                        Hi Natalie,

Everything I've read about epilepsy and Atkins is very positive, so I think you have made a great choice. Have you ever visited the Epilepsy Foundation of America web site? it's efa.org I'm sure there are others, but I know the EFA is very active. My son has E and I've spent many hours there gleaning information. Try going to the message boards and doing a search on "diet" or "Atkins".

                        Good luck!

I am not sure what info a french label gives, but maybe if you can copy the details off a few packets we can help you work it out.
