everything looks good with your menus then...like I said earlier you may want to experiment with dropping the cheese or decreasing the amount to see if it has any effect.

Actually, I think hypothyroidism can come at any age. I'm 24 and have hypothyroidism since I was 18.Originally posted by G-MomPeter, although you mean well, she is only 21 years old, and hypothyroidism isn't likely at her age. BUT your advice is very pertinent to older folks! So thanks for the reminder.~Bridget~ (F) Age 25

If hypothyroidism is the one where you have to be on meds for life, then my sister was diagnosed with it when she was in her 40's, and about a month later her 15 year old daughter was also diagnosed. When we think back on it, both of them had exhibited symptoms for quite a few years previous to diagnosis.
But I don't know my hypER from my hypO here...all I know is that they both have to take meds everyday, and their quality of life improved almost immediately.

Ok, just to be clear, yet again, I did not say it was impossible for a 21 year old girl to have a sluggish thyroid. I just thought to jump the gun and assume because after only 2 weeks and no substantial scale loss, that Spazzy has a medical condition, without suggesting other helpful things to try is a bit presumptuous. There are several identifiable symptoms that hypothyroid sufferers display, and she should check for these first. However, I do realize that not everyone is as educated in medicine as myself and my primary source of knowledge (my husband).
Quite honestly, Dr. A suggests going to the doctor prior to starting his program and get a full blood panel. That is always a good idea at any age.
Moochie, hyperthyroid is when there is too much hormone produced by the thyroid resulting in a fast metabolism. I had a sorority sister who had this and she had tremendous trouble keeping on weight.

Good points, G-mom!
This was a good reminder to all of us (me in particular as I'm a mod here) to advocate going to your doctor for a blood work-up as Dr. Atkins suggests. I'm going to be promoting that starting today.
And thanks for clearing the thyroid thing up for me too...that makes sense, hyper=fast metabolism..that'll help me remember it now.

It probably is your BCP's. It is not uncommon for that to happen when you low carb and take them. You will lose but you will have to put up with the up down gain/loss fluctuations from time to time that they will cause. Seeking lower dose is a good idea, that may help. I was taking them for my PCOS and regualting Aunt Flo but had to stop because they raised my BP too much. Just kep plugging away and know that you will have fluid retension and the BCP's may make that seem worse but you will lose. Just might be a bit more stubborn and take its sweet time, somtimes. In time, you should lose fine with no problem once your body gets used to it.

crying is better than binging
awww sweetheart - your sad post and my happy post on the same day.
i don't know why your body isn't registering the change on the scale yet but I believe that if you stay in ketosis, it is only a matter of time.
there are a couple of other people here who didn't lose weight on induction but they lost inches. then later in the program, they suddenly had a big scale loss. it could be like that for you.
also, after my first 2 week induction I hit a plateau - I was stuck at 198 for the longest time. I didn't think the scale would ever budge but it finally did. and it will for you too.
don't despair - it is gonna happen for you . just keep that curvy siren in the wedding dress by the roses firmly fixed in your mind. and know that your mommy luvs ya! :hug

I think I actually figured out why I gained a pound instead of lost, shortly after I weight myself, I started TOM. I'm sticking with it though and I'm going to wait a few days after and weight myself again. that should give me better readings. in the meanwhile, I'll just stick with my tape measure
F 24 5'10 SW - 217 GW 170 restarted atkins 1/14/08 - This time I'm sticking with it!

Hi, Spazzy!
Everyone had great things to say! I am just going to add my little tinker...
I was on Atkins for a month, in ketosis; however, I didn't lose a pound and gained inches! After listening to what people here said I dropped ALL, what I call "iffies"; splenda (including the Atkins syrup), low-carb processed products (i.e. low carb pancakes), etc. I also upped my water more than required, and dropped my coffee in 1/2 (still need to get rid of that last cup
).
I lost 4 pounds in a week from their suggestions. Also, I measure every day - if gives me something to do to take my mind off the scale! Tee hee.
Don't dispair you are doing great and we are very proud of you!
LoriCrawling still gets you there!
