  • i'm not loosing any weight!!!

    It has been 10 days and i seem to be putting weight on. i am exercising and following the book. help!!!! i seem to be putting what feels like more weight on my belly!!!!!

    you're retaining water

    not only do high sodium foods make you retain water, but so does working out.

      post your menu, it's difficult to give you any advice otherwise

        how do i loose the retained water?
        my diet typical day, scrambled egg sometimes plain sometimes with smk salmon.
        lunch
        few pieces of roast chicken with a handful of salad leaves.

        dinner
        duck breast or chicken breast grilled with handful of salad leaves or 1/2 cup broccoli. butter with a lil garlic sauce.

        water every time i need a drink.

          oh, ok, you're not eating enough. Also, you need to eat more veggies, you should be getting 12-15g of carbs a day from veggies, in 2-3 cups of veggies. If you haven't already read the book, you need to. Looks like you have 1 total cup of veggies there, and .5 of it is lettuce, which doesnt have any carbs.

          if you look at your menu above, you have 1 scrambled egg which = .6 carbs
          chicken= 0 carbs, lettuce=.2 carbs, chicken breast=0 carbs, lettuce= .1 carbs, 1/2 cup broccoli= 1 carb

          So youre eating a total of 1.9 carbs!!

          your total menu:

          1 egg= .6C, 5.3F, 6.3P
          3.5 oz chicken= 0c, 10F, 30P
          1 cup lettuce= .4C, .2F, 1P
          1/2 cup broccoli= 1C, .2F, 1.3P
          2 tsp butter= 0C, 8.2F, 0p

          so you have

          2 carbs
          23.9 fat
          38.6 Protein for a total of 377.5 calories. Your body is totally in starvation mode! It's holding onto everything you eat for dear life, you are currently eating the menu of an anorexic. I'm not trying to be rude, but it is very unhealthy. Even if I'm off in my quantities, and lets say you were eating double what i put down, you're still under 800 calories, you should be eating about 1600.

            sorry i didnt put down that i snack on cucumber and celery and have cauliflour made into mash with most dinners. i have the book and refere to it, im always full with my meals.

                  Now that makes more sense. I'm not a firm believer in the BMI, but you clearly don't have a lot to lose... so things will go slow (first time I did Atkins it took me about 6 months to lose 10 lbs... I started at 157 lbs and I'm 5'8").

                  If you exercise, you are gaining muscle... and while it weighs more than fat, it occupies less inches. If I were you, I would track my calories/carbs/etc. to see if everything is right where it has to be.

                  Are you drinking enough water (min 64 oz per day)?

                    yeah im drinking alot of water, at least the min.

                    i want to be a size 10 i am a size 12 at the mo, concerned though for the amount of weight that seems to be going on my stomach
