  • I found the rascal

Well.. I found what was hidden in my menu that was causing me probs.. as I just knew I was going just on 20grams of carbs if not a little less... AND I HAVE been doing it to the letter.. no cheats, no drinks NOTHING...

    My Mayo..

It reads 0.3g sugars. 1.something carb.... and right down at the bottom of the label. 1.something STARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! per 30g

Jeepers creepers.. so that is what kept throwing me out of ketosis when I thought/knew I was having a perfectly atkins meal..

and this mayo is the cheap kind as I normally get hellmans.

Well its binned.. and here goes..

Light mayos often have starches in them. They have to do something to work on the consistency when they take out the fat.
      Glad you figured it out.

It's terrible when the manufacturers hide things in our food....if they hide starch it makes you wonder what else they hide that we don't know about!! Don't get me wrong - I'm not one that believes in conspiracies - but it's hard enough to find good tasting food that fits into our daily lives without someone messing with it!!

Good for you for finding your culprit! Keep up the good work

one thing that's been a big change for me is going from FAT FREE and/or light mayo that i've eaten for years to WONDERFUL full fat "regular" mayo - and let me tell you how much better it tastes!!!!!!! (i get the walmart brand - no sugar, no carbs, no starch)

Duke's Mayo is awesome... no sugar, great flavor. It's mostly found in the South, though, I think (Southern U.S., that is!).

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.. and I've done my dose of looking at the before and after pics to add some more motivation and lets hope it starts to kick off abit more. I'm just focusing on my 18lb loss to reach my first mini target.

PS - I don't think we get Dukes in the UK, although we have hellmans which is also very good (just more of the expensive brand - but it will be worth it )
