Hey everyone!
I am new to this board, but not new to Atkins.
My first time doing Atkins was back in 2001 and I was able to shed 55lbs in no time at all.
I have slowly packed on some pounds this past year due to a thyroid disease, and I decided to give Atkin's a whirl again.
I started Induction on January 3rd and I have shed 10lbs to date (15th) so far.
My only concern is that I have been having some back aches, and on a recent trip to the doc protein was found in my urine.
I don't recall having back aches the first time I did this diet concept.
Is the protein in urine normal during Induction? As far as I know I do not have any kidney problems at all. I am in relatively good health.
The doc did not seem to concerned about the protein finding, but did congratulate me on the ketones found as well.
I have visited the Atkins website and asked this same thing on their forums, but I cannot seem to get a straight answer from anyone there, so I have given up on that site.
I just keep being told it might be proteinuria, but that's impossible for me to have that.
So, is my body excreting protein it cannot use because I am consuming more than usual? Are these back aches that come and go normal?
I would like to extend Induction for another 2 weeks, but I want to make sure what I am experiencing is not abnormal.
Thank you in advance!
