  • A wee bit scared!

    Hi all,

I am on Day 6 of induction, got over my very bad day 2 & 3 and felt great day 4 & half of 5, however last night(early morning) really bad palpitations woke me up, I felt lightheaded, I wasn't in any pain but I am beginning to think it is all this fat! I have never had palpitations before EVER! Around every 10th beat would miss and is still doing it a little this morning. Of course me panicking that I am having a heart attack dosen't help matters

have any of you had palpitations or anything similar?

I would be at the doctor's office already. It is not a normal effect of Atkins so have it checked out.

        Re: A wee bit scared!

        Hi,

Palpitations have stopped but I have an appointment with GP tom

As to my Thyroid I had Thyroid cancer 2 years ago & had a total thyroidectomy so I have to take synthetic thyroxine for the rest of my life, I pretty much know my levels now just by how I feel & that feels ok. Will get doc just to check T3 & T4 tom jic.

Have been re reading DANDR & he does actually mention that palpitations could be a symptom of withdrawal from an addiction inc wheat, sugar etc.
and as I had a lot of both including caffeine that could be what it was.

I promise to get it checked though

        Thanks guys xx

          Re: A wee bit scared!

I was curious because, as you know, the thyroid hormones control your heart and since you are on the hormone maybe your TSH, T3 & T4 all need to be looked at. Perhaps, your dosage needs to be adjusted.

I get the palps too. I am on Synthroid for subclinical hypothyroidism, and they are trying to shrink my nodules and goiter.

I would get flutters in my chest before I took the Synthroid, but once I started they stopped almost completely.

When I started Induction, it came back. I would get more like a pounding in my chest this time. I was assuming it was from my body freaking out that it wasn't getting any sugar that it was used too.

I am sorry to hear of your thyroid cancer. I hope you are doing well.
It is something that concerns me as well.
I have another biopsy in March, and I am praying it's clean again.

There is a chat board I belong too that is dedicated to people like you and me with thyroid ailments.
I can PM the site to you if you are interested.

            Hi Quiet rioter

I am doing great, the board might be useful so please PM it to me.

hopefully I can get rid of this bulk ( i need to lose a whole person) I WILL DO IT....and then I intend to live well for the rest of my life...... there is so much I want to do and without the fat i want to be unstoppable

Keep your chin up, at least you on the doctors radar so if it does turn out to be Cancer they would have hopefully caught it early enough to get rid of it completely! I will send you healing thoughts

            Ciao xx
