    Hi All,
I'm on day 3 of induction and despite the voice in my head saying "don't do it" I weighed myself. I am up 4 pounds and am now 194!!! Please any encouragement would be helpful right now because I am freaking out. I also should mention that my 'monthly visitor' just started today. Ugh - why did I do that????

Could you post a daily menu of what you eat? It could be you're eating hidden carbs. x

      Sure - Today:
-16 oz decaf coffee with 4 tbsp light cream, 1 splenda
-1 egg and 1 egg white with 1/4 cup shredded cheese, 2 slices of turkey bacon
-1 can of tuna with 2 tbsp sugar free mayo on bed of 1 cup greens
-celery with 2 tbsp cream cheese
-4 oz turkey burger with 1 oz cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup of mushrooms

I have been vigilant about plugging everything into Fit Day and making sure that I create custom foods to the labels of the foods I am having and every day I am averaging 19-20 carbs and making sure not to go over.

If you have them in Fitday, what is the percentage of your fat intake? Also, how many mg of sodium are in the menu you've posted?

It looks good... If this is (more or less) what you ate for the past 3 days, there is no reason to worry imo. You might be retaining water because of TOM. Drinking a lot of water should help.

I dunno about others, but I always gain 5-7 lbs water weight at that time of month. I dunno your menstrual history, but that may be it. Do you feel bloated???

Look on the bright side, if it is due to your period, you will have one heck of a weight loss in a few days. Stick it out and don't weigh yourself again until your period is done.

Thanks so much I was looking through the posts for some inspiration and I found this post by LindsayAnne0 who was quoting another member (not sure who) and I really liked it:

"I was just reading the 'sticky' at the top of this forum and found this and thought it would be inspiring to both of us:

"All the scales in the world are broken:
As an Atkineer, you may as well get used to the fact that all the scales in the world are broken. I went from a size 22 to a size 16 and no scale showed a weight loss. Nevertheless, when I went to Ross to buy a new pair of jeans, I was astounded to discover the plus sizes would no longer fit me and the same thing is going to happen to you.

You can lose inches and even drop down complete sizes and still remain the exact same weight on the scale.

In the past, no doubt during another low fat diet, you learned to use the scale to tell your daily fortune. If it dipped down you felt good about yourself but then would wonder why it wasn’t a bigger dip. If it dipped up you felt awful about yourself and decided a good solution for your depression was to binge immediately, after all, the scale claims you are fatter anyway right? And if you stay the same, you don’t know whether to be mad, sad or glad…

Ladies and gentleman I submit to you that using a clunky metal machine to determine our self worth for the day is a masochistic ritual that needs to take a flying leap out of our life. There are other kinds of weight we want to lose. The heavy, heavy burden of self defeating rituals that undermine our best efforts to change is definately something good to lose. Stay off the scale. Determine your own destiny

I think what I need to do is hide the scale and get out the measuring tape and just have my pair of jeans that I currently cannot breathe in nearby and use those things as barometers instead.....

                  Re: Huge mistake

Thanks all - I think what it is, and like what so many others have expressed here, it is a mental transition period to get used to feeling SATISFIED and enjoy the food you are eating and not feel guilty about it while believing that eventually it will lead to weight loss. I am so used to starving myself, up down, up down, etc. etc. that if I really think about it, my poor body is in a transition period of adjusting to this and I need to keep listening to all of you to "Keep the Faith" so to speak. And yes, that is a great point about my TOM - I have a spike in my weight of about 5 lbs usually. I think that it's just the MENTAL burden that that 'piece of metal' does to you no matter what logic says. My new resolution besides sticking to induction - no more scale until February 2nd!! (Day 14). You guys are the best.

It's so nice to know I'm not alone. Okay, that's it - I am measuring myself today and making it part of my signature/stats. What does everyone measure btw? Waist, hips, chest (under the bust right?), arms.....anywhere else? Where do you guys measure?

Great - thanks Georgiana - I just measured and will now make it part of my profile so I can chart that as well - even if I show a gain I can smugly come back with "Well, I lost an inch from my waist...."

Hi Kathleen, congrats on doing a great job so far. You will benefit greatly from entering everything in FitDay. I would agree it seems to be water retention due to your TOM.

I, too, am a slave to the scale. Thanks for adding the post by LindsayAnne0. Someday...
