  • Psyllium question

    Hi All,
Quick question about the tbsp of psyllium we should have every day. Does anyone have any tips on the intake of this? I tried it with the traditional water mix in and I thought I was going to gag. I also mixed it with my salad dressing which worked really well but I don't have the salad dressing every day. I was just curious how and what form people get their required intake of this daily? Thanks!!!

    Re: Psyllium question

You don't *have to* have it every day. Psyllium husks should only be used if you are constipated. As for how to eat it... I never had it, but I assume you could sprinkle it over a salad.

I take the capsules (no carbs added). You are supposed to take 5 capsules with a glass of water--up to three times daily, if needed.

It's been an absolute life saver for me. It took 3 days for it to start really working, but I doubt I could have stayed on Atkins without it!

Thanks so much - Sunny, what brand of capsules are they? That sounds like a great option!

Kathleen, I got them at Walmart. They are their Equate Brand.

The label reads: Equate Fiber Therapy, 100% natural psyllium husk fiber.

I'm sure they are available in other brands, but I was looking for a bargain. 160 capsules cost around $4.00.

              Found an additional solution

In addition to the capsules, (because I know a lot of people don't like the powder) I just created another solution - I had a turkey burger for dinner and I mixed in 2 tsp with the 4oz of meat along with some Mrs. Dash - the result was a delicious burger and could not taste the psyllium and also it 'bulked up' the meat as well to give me more to eat - something to try.....

Ugh... yes, you can get a bargain, but it won't be the good stuff

I don't take Psyllium straight, but I've taken a special formula of the stuff for an internal cleanse which worked out great - even took care of parasites (supposedly - who knows for sure, but I certainly felt a heck of a lot better).

I may need to do something more drastic and I know this is TMI, but I have not had a bowel movement since I started with this on Monday - should I be concerned?

OMG! You don't have to be TOO worried YET, but if it goes another few days...

Sounds like you are definitely in need of a good cleanse. Check out the link I put in the last post.
