Re: getting frustrated. need some encouragement

    Hi all,
I thought Georgiana's e-mail was very thorough and direct and wasn't an attempt to beat down, just give a reality check that during induction you really don't have the option of bending the rules. I speak from experience because I have tried this a few times over the years and always bent the rules and didn't really follow it to the letter and as a result, I didn't really lose weight. I don't like weighing either and I would love a piece of fruit but I think it's just an internal decision - do I commit 100% or not? That's my personal experience because when I start to go my own way with the rules I get into trouble. Oh, and as Georgiana said, the Marzetti blue cheese is fine to have - it's my favorite and according to the book it is fine. Good luck to you - I know you can do this!!!

      Hi again,
I looked at your menu and it looks great but the only thing that I might look at if I was frustrated with weight loss (aside from no seeds which was already talked about) is the avocado and black olive intake - Personally 2 of my favorite things (!) but in the book it says that these foods can occasionally slow down weight loss and may need to be avoided at first, and if you seem to be losing slowly it says to avoid intake of them altogether. Maybe that's part of it?

Re: getting frustrated. need some encouragement

I can understand your frustration. I started induction (again) on Jan 5th and as of today, I've lost 3.5 lbs. Not what I was hoping for but I just keep moving forward. I'm insulin resistant so I don't know if that plays into things.

I wasn't seeing any changes at first so went through my menu and really looked at the nibbles here and there of non-induction things I was eating, as well as, my total calories I was eating. The non-inductions 'nibbles' really add up! I also found the some foods I was eating quite a bit of ended up having ingredients in them I was unaware of that I was supposed to avoiding. For example - have you checked your bacon and sausage to make sure there is not added sugar? Little things like that.

I don't really have advice for you except to keep at it! Also - I don't like to rely on them completely, but it might be a good indicator for you, have you tried using ketosticks?

Keriann... I just want to be sure you and other newbies reading this thread understand... you CAN eat caesar or blue cheese or ranch dressing!!! And about the 1g limit... I often opt for a 2g dressing (a yummy Kraft Signature dressing called "Roasted Red Pepper & Parmesan - scrumptious!)... 2g/1 Tbsp... I use no more then 2 Tbsps and I always count the carbs. It's OKAY! And... it's a good-for-you fat. In fact, all of the dressings I mentioned above are good-for-you fats. Just read the label and make sure the carb count is low and that, when added to your daily plan, doesn't take you above your 20g/induction level (or 25g/OWL level 1).

BTW - the 1g sugar dressing you bought... that was your 1g carb. Sugar = carb.

But do check the ingredients list as well as the nutrition label to make absolutely sure that the 1 g sugar mentioned is natural sugar in some of the ingredients, not added sugar.

In USA there are some makes of dressings that don't add sugar to the ingredients so it might mean looking for those to replace your usual one if your usual dressing has sugar listed in the list of ingredients.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
