  • Is this a breakthrough

My dearest friend knew I was doing the Atkins & new that I had a sweet tooth. So for coffee today she decided to bring me an Atkins Bar (Chocolate brownie) and 4 things utterly surprised me:-

    1 it was absoloutely VILE
2 I could only take a small bite
3 It tasted just so awfully sweet so I snuck it in my bag
4 I......oh my goodness I cannot believe I did this to a sweet chocolatey confection...I THREW IT AWAY

I still can't actually believe that...ME Debbie! threw chocolatey stuff away !

      Re: Is this a breakthrough

Way to go! I was so excited a week ago when I finally found a local store that carried almost all the different types of Atkins bars. I bought a box of Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars and I just cant eat them. I brought one to work yesterday as my snack, I ate three bites and it is still sitting here on my desk wrapper taped shut. I am only keeping it "in case of emergencies"!

The bar says that it is okay for All Phases but I had a heck of a time keeping the 65-30-5 ratio once I added it in. It also claims it only has 2grams of Net Carbs but the info on the back says 22grams of carbs and 10grams of dietary fiber so wouldnt that really be 12 grams of Net Carbs. So not only was it not really good but it confused the heck out of me.

      Keep up the good work!

While the packaging says the bars are okay for Induction, you need to read the ingredients. Elizellen has posted the ingredients to the bars in the past and they all seem to contain ingredients that are NOT allowed during Induction Phase.

But look at it this way, Debbie, you tried a bar and didn't like it. They aren't inexpensive (the last time I did a price check on them they were something like $3 per bar.) So if you invested in 4 bars that would be something like $12. You could buy a whole rotissiere chicken and a veggie for $12. Or if you love cheese, you could buy a hunk of an imported cheese with that $12. In other words, whole, natural, minimally processed and refined foods.

You're doing yourself a big favor!

                Hi Ladies

I find that the chickens in Tescos and Sainsburys in the UK are very sweet, I worry/wonder if they have been injected with a sugar solution...

                  Rotisserie Chicken

Speaking of these chickens I wanted to ask the same thing - my local grocery store, 'Stop and Shop' carries delicious rotisserie chickens and I checked the label for the natural one and it says a 3oz serving is 0 carbs. Can this be right? Does anyone else know? I would love to have this for dinner sometimes but am afraid of the same thing - hidden sugar.

You have to read the ingredients to the chickens. Where I live, the major grocery stores all have nutritional labels on their chickens.

But if your rotissiere chicken has sugar, then use that Atkins bar money to buy a nice piece of salmon, or some shrimp/prawns, or a steak. You know, something wholesome and natural. It's the better investment for your body.

I hope you have several loo cubicles at work so they can all get there in time should the sugar alcohols give them the bathroom effect
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
