  • screwed up... Russel Stover

    It my TOM and I was craving something. I didn't want to totally screw up so I bought some of those sugar free Russel Stover candies. They were the mint kind and they were very very good. However, I ate the whole bag (6 candies). Now my belly hurts even more. I told myself I would only eat 1. I would recommend never buying these. They are addicting and cause bad stomach pains. I hope this doesn't mess me up too bad. I've already had very slow weight loss. I think I'm going to do 2 more weeks of induction. Clean induction this time that is. Does anyone know how long it will take my body to get back on track after my little mishap???? I know I never should have done that. I need to watch my splenda intake too. I know I can do this better!!

    Don't be TOO hard on yourself - that could have been 6 regular peppermint patties! I too have had issues with those candies - when I did this a couple of years ago it messed up my induction because I fooled myself into thinking I could have sugar free candy (there's a lot out there!) and atkins bars. Now, I don't know if they stopped my induction BECAUSE the taste of these candies/bars and the artificial sweetener was an overwhelming trigger and the next day I went completely off plan. For me, it's about kicking addiction to sugar and if I'm eating something that is too similar it's a trigger. That's my experience anyway. However, you know what has messed me up on previous efforts even more?? Being really hard on myself - You have to forgive yourself and move on and look at all the good you have done for yourself and be happy that you learned a valuable lesson about what your body can and cannot handle! You can do this - you know you can

          Just be prepared that the stomach ache often is the beginning of a nice bout with diareah ....... the sugar free candies cause loose stools to many and to somejust really bad gas ......... Just chalk it up to a lesson learned!

            I can eat half of one of those those. Any more and I get super gassy. I dare not think what would happen if I ate a bag. I hope it goes well for you. I think you will be fine though. Reacting to it means you probably did not absorb all that sugar alcohol. And that is good.
