  • Fitday Entry Question

    Hi,

I'm trying to enter Carborite Cereal Bars into Fitday.com. Everytime I put the information, I get the following error message: "The number of Calories in the food does not match with the amount of fat, carbs, and protein.
    There should be about 47Calories.

    Cals = fat X 9 + (carb - fiber) X 4 + protein X 4 + alcohol X 7 "

And it won't allow me to enter it without changing it. Has anyone figured out how to get around this?

    Thanks

I have seen that error before but only when I had entered something incorrectly.

Fitday doesn't subtract fiber. So you must count ALL carbs. :confused

And if you are on induction have you checked the list of ingredients?
From their website the blueberry cereal bar has
        Ingredients:
Blueberry filling (Maltitol, Sorbitol, Modified Tapioca Starch, Water, Natural Flavor, Glycerine, Pectin, Citric Acid, Locust Bean Gum, Red #40, Blue #1), Maltitol Syrup, Corn Starch, Palm Shortening (Non-Hydrogenated Palm Oil), Isomalt, Whey Protein Concentrate, Enriched Bleached Wheat Flour (Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Polydextrose, Wheat Protein Concentrate, Isolated Soy Protein, Vegetable Glycerine, Wheat Bran Flour, Powered Cellulose (high fiber source), Salt, Baking Soda, Mono- and Diglycerides, Soy Lecithin, Vegetable Gum (Carrageenan, Sodium Chloride), Natural Flavors, Monocalcium Phosphate, Sucralose (a sugarless sweetener).

I am no expert but have highlighted some ingredients I don't think are induction acceptable.

With all these special lowcarb products you do have to read the labels just to make sure!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thanks, I know that now (of course after I ate it!). I looked it up in the Atkins shopping guide and it says it is ok for phase 1, but if I had looked at what the coding in the book meant, I would have known that it suggests you stear clear of them

I'm trying to do better, I just have to keep re-reading the books. I took every Atkins book they have out of the library! I do wish they hadn't created all of these so called "low-carb" foods, I think they are definately a big part of my problem!

          Thanks,

Good attitude, Lisa, I am sure your reading up on Atkins will help you get into the woe (way of eating) in no time :joy

Now - how about dropping ALL 'lowcarb' foods for the next week or so and only eating things that are specifically mentioned on the acceptable foods list?

If you need snacks or ideas for any mealtime scroll down to the food forums on the list of forums page and browse the many suggestions there.

And make it your golden rule not to eat anything until you have checked the ingredients agains the list. There is a printable cardsized list at the top of this forum you can have in your pocket or bag at all times.
