  • losing energy throughout the day

are there any supplements or vitamins or anything that help with energy? I know that going low-carb a lot of people have mentioned that they feel like they are much more energized...however i do not.

in fact - it's usually in the afternoon (after lunch) that i just seem to completely lose all energy.

now, granted i do have a sit-down job and so i'm staring at my computer alllllll day long. and i also USED to have a sugar free red-bull at lunch which always helped, but i haven't had any since starting atkins and so my energy level is just GONE during the afternoon.

    any suggestions?

How long have you been on induction? How many carbs do you eat a day? Since you have been drinking caffeine in the afternoon, your body may just need time to adjust to not getting the caffeine.

I take a b vitamin daily, omega 3s and drink a lot of water. This ups my energy. I also find myself worn down more when I drop below 10g of carbs a day. I try to stick as close to 20 as I can to stave off the tiredness.

You might also want to try taking a short exercise break after lunch. Getting your blood flowing a bit might help.

Well, I was on induction for 2 weeks (first two weeks of january) then last week, my third week - I 'cheated' and went up a few runs too fast and had some fruit and nuts...so as of this week i'm back on induction - i'm doing it "clean" this time.

so i've actually only been following atkins now since the 2nd of january (3 weeks and 3 days).

      I usually average between about 20 - 25 g carbs per day.

Are you getting more than half of your net carbs from your veggies? Dr Atkins suggested that if we experience tiredness and what he called 'ascent weakness' we could add more veggies to see if that helped then return to the previous quantity if it sorted out the problem.

If you are choosing mainly lettuce and getting most of your carbs from your other foods rather than veg it might be worth choosing more nutritious veggies. Lettuce is basically chewy water!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
