  • Thank You Atkins

I am on my 6th day of induction and I really still can't believe what a gift this new way of eating has been for me. It's like I had the key to the prison gate in my pocket all along and I finally decided to use it. I don't know if I've dropped weight and I'm not really concerned because I just FEEL different - I walk with more confidence, I sleep better, I am a calmer and more pleasant person, and finally on Day 6 I get what everyone has been saying about the increased energy and the hunger disappearing - that is what is happening!! Most importantly, for someone like me who has been a sugar and carb addict all of her life, a slave to the craziness of the addicition, to be able to be in situations that are unbelievably carb tempting (today I was at a bridal show - talk about carb temptation everywhere) and to feel NOTHING is truly a miracle. I said "No thanks" and felt completely fine with it! It's hard for me to wrap my head around and I could probably write a lot longer, but I just feel so grateful to feel the way I do. Have a great night!

    Re: Thank You Atkins

Kathleen, I am in awe of how Atkins is working, too.

I started January 2 on another diet, but after two weeks I was so hungry that I just went crazy eating. I knew that if I couldn't control the hunger, I would never be able to stay on a diet.

That's why I switched to Atkins. I did feel a little hunger the first week, but could eat the allowed foods until I was satisfied.

Then this week, I just don't have the hunger. But food tastes SO good!

I did get a little tired of eggs and meat the first week, but then I started playing and fixing different combinations in different ways. Since then, every day is an adventure and I love my meals!

Today for a snack I had celery sticks with cream cheese mixed with herbs... with an anchovy fillet on each one. Nothing boring about that!

And instead of deviled eggs, I like to quarter boiled eggs and drizzle a dressing made of mayonnaise with a little bit of spicy brown mustard mixed in... and then sprinkle them with real bacon crumbles and eat them with 5 small olives.

It's so good and so satisfying!

congrats!!! i really wish i knew what the increased energy was about - but that is one thing I am struggling with.

however i understand everything else. especially the carb temptations at bridal shows...i went to one on the 17th and my matron of honor came with me - and I had HER try all the cake for me! (btw, no matter what, i WILL have my wedding cake on my wedding day, lol) but I didn't touch one bite there.

congrats though on everything that you're feeling.

Sunny, your food suggestions sound yummy!! Kerri Ann I am so glad that you were able to resist a situation as tempting as a bridal show - ridiculous isn't it? Anyway, the energy will come, I promise. Think about how HUGE it is to not be tempted. Like Sunny talked about, being in that place where you are starving to get thin and having cravings, etc. etc. - who wants it??? I never want to forget what that was like because I don't want to slip back there. I don't care if I lose 1 pound a week because I have my sanity back. When I was in carb world I was starving one day, binging the next, and I will share that I had a nasty habit of having 1-2 glasses of wine a night to 'unwind' - what a joke - I woke up feeling tired and depressed and now I just feel so good.
