  • Moving to extended induction

    I MADE IT!!! :icondance :icondance

Today is Day 14 for me - I will be moving over to the extended induction board. :joy

My loss for the 14 day induction consisted of 8 pounds and 4.75 total inches. I am a little disappointed in the pounds lost (since I have over 100 pounds to lose) but am going to stay on induction and keep plugging away.

A few things I will change on this next part of my adventure are :

No splenda - I drank three (3) cans of diet rite during the 14 day induction and I am wondering if that affected my loss.

Will attempt exercise - I only exercised once in my 14 day induction. Frankly, I'm so out of shape cardiovascularly, that I suck at excercise. I feel that I need attempt to walk, even if its just around the block.

Am also going to reread my book and see what my metablosim at at according to the weight I lost on the 14 day induction. ha

I don't respond much to the posts, but I read all of them and am encouraged by them. I believe that knowing that you are all dealing with the same things I am will be a big help to me in being successful in this WOE. Thanks everyone :joy

      awesome job!! :icondance

With the exercise, a walk around the block is great! Whatever gets you out and about and moving is good, and you have to start somewhere, right?
I sucked majorly cardiovascularly (wow, long word..lol) but you'd be surprised at how quickly you build up endurance if you have a regular schedule. :joy

Well done Nikegirl :clapping :clapping :clapping

We look forward to accompanying you on your journey to better health and a trimmer figure the Atkins way :joy

If you cant get round to gym-type exercising just walking is a good start :yes

Try for a 10 minute trip first - five minutes walk away from your home and then five minutes back - and when you are comfy doing that go for a few minutes more and build it up.

When I started we used to drive down to the sea front and park then walk along the promenade till I felt a bit 'puffed', sit for a bit watching the holidaymakers till I got my breath back then walk back to the car.
After a few weeks we could make a couple of miles and still have a conversation!!

Another tactic to get some exercise in is to park a distance away from your work entrance - at the far end of the car park - and so walk a few minutes each end of the day.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Congrats Nikegirl on making through the first 14 days. Those are usually the worst and demonstrate your commitment to eating strictly with the plan. While you only (HA! I'd be blessing each and every one of those amazing pounds down ) 8 pounds, you have demonstrated control and commitment to only allowing stuff into your mouth that was legal. That self-control makes the Atkineer and his/her weightloss trip just a matter of time of perserverence.

You can certainly do and will do this. Take the opportunity to now that you have such positive eating habits out of the way to learn a new equally great habit of exercise. Commit to it the same way you daily commit to eating right. Those two things together might speed up your weight loss journey, and if not, you will be on the right road nevertheless.

I wouldn't beat myself up over three cans of Splenda-sweetened pop. It should have had little effect, but you can certainly eliminate it and test for yourself. Again great job on making through the 14 day gauntlet of Induction, and I look forward to you posting in extended Induction forum. It's been my home for quite awhile now.

Congrats on loseing 8 pounds doing your own lowcarb plan cause as Dr Atkins says in chapter 15 of DANDR if you are not exercising you are no doing my plan! Just think when you start doing his plan how much more successful you will be. I hole you have joined the TDL Century club open enrollment set your own weekly exercise goals based on your physical ability ( walking is a great exercie by the way) with weekly yippee I made my exercise goal reports every Monday and the adjustment of your goals if you need to based on your better physical condition.

              Happy Atkins low carbing.
