    hi and welcome.

I always suggest that anyone starting the diet should read the book, so don't get angry that I'm telling you to read the book because it will tell you exactly what you can and cannot eat.

Tuna and mayo are fine, so are bacon and eggs. But you also need your vegetables. Atkins is a low carb diet, not a no carb diet.

Decaffienated tea without sugar is okay, but it doesn't count towards your daily water requirement. If you use an artificial sweetener, then you must count that as one of your daily artificial sweetener allotments.

Mayo is fine, just watch out for the sugar content.
Iced tea...well, it depends. If you brewed it yourself from herbal tea, and added some Splenda in to sweeten it, it would be absolutely fine, but you have to count the Splenda towards your sweetener limit.

If it's something storebought, with aspartame, then ditch it, as aspartame is not allowed.

If it's going to interfere with your water consumption for the day, then it's best if you replace it with water.

It's natural to feel hungry in the first while. When your whole life centers around what you're eating because you're learing the plan, it's natural to be overly conscious of this! :yes
Think about it though, are you hungry or thirsty? If you've eaten only an hour or so previous, then perhaps have a big glass of water, wait 15 minutes and if you really are hungry then eat something. A protein mixed with a fat is a great snack, because it satisfies quicker and sustains you longer..so tuna and mayo is a good one as well as meat and cheese, or meat and mayo, or meat dipped in ranch dressing..something like that.

        Thank you!

I used to have tuna and mayo all the time but recently have been hearing differently...

        thanks for the replies!

The main concern with tuna is the mercury contamination. But for most people, tuna once a week isn't going to hurt them.

you can use canned chicken or turkey instead of canned tuna.

right now the important thing for your Atkins is to get you weaned from the sugars and in ketosis so if you ar hungry eat! and continue to eat your high fat foods until your appetite is suppressed make sure you spread out your veggie carbs so you don't sit down to a huge bowkl of slad and spike your blood sugar.
You are going to feel like a junkie in withdrawals for a few days but then your ketois will kick in and opoof you will feel great and your body will be a nmorphing fat mass leaving lean tissue mass gaining.

            Happy low carbing.
