  • Sausage with 1 gram sugar -- no more ketosis!

This morning I had turkey sausage that contained one gram of sugar. I thought, "No biggie. I'll just count the extra gram."

Then I got on my bike and rode 20 minutes, and afterward decided to check the ketostix to see if the bike riding was increasing the ketones.

I am totally out of ketosis... from that 1 gram of sugar!!!!

On top of that, I am detoxing from nicotine and didn't sleep much last night.

    And the scale is stuck.

Okay... that's it for my pity party.

      Thanks PJAY.

After I posted that, I realized that it could also have been my supplements.

And I have lost. 0.6 pound this week, so that's better than I was doing before I started!

Hey, our bodies do not hop on or off ketosis that fast!! even if your body went immediately into glucosis, there would still be ketones circulating your blood stream and ending in your kindneys to be excreted..
There is no reason to panic. our excretion mechanisms are cycle based, with a range of variables to affect this cycle.
I think we should all try to avoid keeping soo much faith in the ketostix.. I think we try too hard to avoid being scale slaves and we end up being slaves to a plastic stick with a buffer on its end..

Scribbler, you are absolutely right. About an hour later I checked again, and the ketones were doing fine.

I promise to quit checking!!! Between checking the ketostix and the scales with their day to day fluctuations, I have been ready to pull my hair out.

And I KNOW better!!! I guess I just keep expecting the whooshie fairy to pay a magical visit and I don't want to miss the occasion.
