  • net carbs?

    hieveryone,,i know this question is going to sound stupid,,,but i just dont understand net carbs? total carbs? can someone please explain? yes ive read the book,,,but somehow just doesnt register,,maybe a little help?

    A food label lists the total carbs in a food and then underneath lists the amount of fiber carbs. Since fiber moves quickly through your system, we subtract them out of the total carbs to get the net carbs. I hope this helps.

        A good explanation for someone reading labels in USA Thanks for posting it.

        However if anyone is in UK then our fibre grams are not taken into account at all under the 'total carb' as the UK labelleing does not recognise fibre as being a carbohydrate.

        So on UK labels the fibre is listed in a different section of the nutrition label and so does not need to be deducted to get 'net carbs'.

        Many other non-USA countries have the same system of labelling.
