  • A question about FitDay, also stopped losing weight

    Hello all-
I am new here, and reading these forums has been so helpful. My husband has done low-carb for 8 years and I am finally joining him.

I am 5' 10", currently 147 lbs. I lost 5 lbs. in the first week and would like to lose 7 more pounds. However, after losing 5 lbs the first week, I have not lost an ounce in the last 5 days. According to what I have read here, that may be totally normal.

However, I just started using FitDay, and if I am interpreting right, I think I am eating too many carbs still? Here is my page from yesterday:

Sorry for the layout, but it says 41.3 carbs, which is way too many. Is that total, or net carbs though, and how do I tell? Also, I exercise 3-4 days per week for 30 minutes, and drink lots of water.

Thanks if you got this far!

If you are on induction there are several things on your list that should not be eaten on induction. (soybeans, peanuts - are legumes they are rung 6 add ins)

        Hi Amanda,

First, congratulations for the 5 lbs lost!

Now... While you are indeed following a low-carb diet, you are not following Atkins. If you started 12 days ago, you should still be in induction. However, soy and peanuts are not induction foods... and neither is wine. The list of foods acceptable during induction is here:

You should be eating max. 20 g of net carbs in induction. Most of these carbs should come from vegetables (i.e. more than half). Also, Atkins is a high-fat diet, so most of your calories should come from fat. During induction, you should aim for approx. 65% fat, 5% carbs and 30% protein.

I see you found the info about net carbs, so that is down.

          Thanks for the responses!

OK, removing nuts and soy, and wine, darnit. This is tricky for me because I only eat fish and soy, no other meat. How else can I get my fat content up without eating tons of cheese? I am so used to eating soy and tofu too.

Re: A question about FitDay, also stopped losing weight

In the menu you posted, only 10 out of the 126 g of protein you ate come from soy and peanuts anyway. If you are eating tofu, just make sure you count it toward your cheese intake, so that you don't go over 4 oz.

Ok, thanks so much for the tips. I will adjust my diet a bit today and see what happens over the next few days. I don't want to stay stopped at 147!
