  • 2 weeks/15 pounds down

I started induction on the 19th with a goal to drop 30 lbs by April 1 when I take my family on a Disney Cruise. I weighed in this morning and was down 15lbs already. This was despite cheating half way through when I went to Extreme Cage Fighting with my buddies and indulged in pizza, popcorn, cookies and pop.

I got back on track the following day and haven't looked back.

What is a realistic expectation for weight loss by April 1st? To date I have not been excercising but will add that in beginning today via treadmill until the weather breaks here in Michigan.

Congrats on your great weight loss!

It is quite overwhelming the results at time, caught me by suprise when I lost 10lbs on my induction.

    Keep well and make progress!

          Re: 2 weeks/15 pounds down

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I did this diet three years ago and lost 25 pounds in about three months. That was all of the weight that I wanted to lose and I reached goal very quickly. I would say it was at least two pounds a week.

I made a mistake, though. I wanted to lose the weight so quickly that I stayed on induction and did not go through the phases. Thus, I reached goal and didn't know how to eat properly! Don't do it.

Dr. Atkins says our goal is not to reach our "goal weight". Our goal is to maintain it!

So, my advice is take it step by step and not get into too much of a hurry.
          149.8/no weigh/ 119

          1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
          rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
          rung 4 - berries, melon
          rung 5 - wine -
          rung 6 - beans, hummus
          rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
          Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
          (on to pre-maintenance)

Without knowing anything about you - height/start weight/goal weight/gender/age - no-one can even suggest what you can realistically expect to lose in the next 2 months.

No matter what goals you set for losing xx pounds in 60 days, your body will decide what weight it drops when, as well as if it will add muscle while dropping the fat depending on how much you exercise and stick to the plan.

So all I can suggest for a realistic goal would be to set goals you can have some control over like:
Exercise for xx minutes x days a week
Stick to plan with eating for xx days
Drink xx ounces of water a day

All of those you can achieve with your own efforts and decisions, unlike losing xx pounds in xx days.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                Nearly forgot . . .

Congratulations on losing 15 pounds already
You are well on your way!!

Are you moving on to the next phase of Atkins now? Many people find that on OWL (the main weight loss phase of Atkins) they continue their induction successes while expanding their food options.
