  • Day 14 of induction

So, today is my 14th day of induction. I have lost 13 pounds and couldn't be happier. Friends that I haven't seen since I started induction came over yesterday to watch the super bowl. Everyone was going on and on about how great I looked and how thin my face looked. It felt great. But now what I'm wondering is... Do I move onto OWL or can I stay on induction for another week or two. I am fine with the limited menu and I would love to continue losing weight at this pace. What should I do?

      Re: Day 14 of induction

As Dr Atkins said we should move to the third phase (premaintenance) when we have between 5-10 pounds left to lose so that would mean you have between 21-26 pounds to lose between then and now.

It seems to me that those who start OWL when they still have a fair few pounds to lose find it easier to tell if they are losing while adding carbs and the OWL rung foods, whereas those whose losses are already slowing as they approach that magic 5-10 pounds left have more trouble telling if their losses are halted and so they might be near their CCLL.

So I would suggest not leaving it too long before starting to climb the OWL carbohydrate ladder.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Could you post some of your menus? You really don't have a lot to lose and you sure did knock out some serious pounds in a short time.

Do you mind posting your height and goal weight?

I ate almost the same things everyday. For breakfast I had scrambled eggs with chopped red pepper, turkey bacon and decaf coffee with 1 pkt. Splenda. For lunch I had a tuna salad. Romaine lettuce, celery, tuna, orange pepper, and 0 carb 0 sugar ranch dressing. For dinner I would eat either a turkey burger patty with mustard a slice of tomato wrapped in a lettuce leaf, or a chicken breast done the same way, or grilled salmon with cauliflower mockpatatoes. For a snack I would have 2 sticks of mozzarella string cheese. I only drank water or water with a sucralose flavor / sweetener packet.

I am 5’4 and my goal weight is130 lbs. I’m a little disappointed with myself though. The other night I had 3 glasses of white wine and now I am at 163 again. 2 lbs up.

Yes - alcohol is likely to disrupt weightlosses

Your body will utilise the alcohol before it burns any of the other 'fuel' you are feeding it with so will delay any losses till you have used it all up

Also it will result in faulty ketostick readings as the acetones (I think) given off by breaking down the alcohol will register the same as ketones in your urine, so wait a while before bothering to use them.

Thanks for posting your menu. Not too fond of turkey bacon or burgers. I like the real stuff, myself.
