  • Soooo frustrating!

I had finally started losing some weight even though I have not weighed yet, my clothes are getting more loose. Well, the other night I went out with some people from work. I ordered a steak, salad, and steamed veggies. Doing good till they started buying drinks and even though I never drink, I let them talk me into it. I only had two, but now I am paying for it. I can tell I have gained some weight back, and it is taking for ever to loose it.

I'm not looking for a pity party, I did it and I knew I shouldn't, but even when I was good for two weeks, I still am losing very very slowly. I'm afraid I have ruined my metabolism from all the yo yo dieting and going off and on the Atkins diet. I was hoping to be able to look halfway decent in a bathing suit this summer, but it looks like I won't. I now know not to even cheat a little bit anymore. The first time I did this diet, I lost a lot of weight even with the little cheats here and there, but now it's not the same.

I can totally relate. I did Atkins a couple of years ago and I too continued to lose weight with little cheats here and there. I'm sure that any weight you have gained due to drinking alcohol is probably water weight. Just continue to drink LOTS of water. I did the same thing last weekend, and it didn't cause me any problems.

I too am concerned that I may have screwed up my metabolism with all the yo-yo dieting. I'm losing slower this time too. Blah! But I am determined, so I'm sure I'll make my goal this time.

    Good luck to you!

Dust yourself off and jump back on the atkins diet wagon, there is room for you to join us.

To succeed at this WOE, I plan ahead. Everyday I know what foods I will be eating. If you don't plan for success, you will surely fail.

Please make yourself a list of the Induction foods and eat only from that list. By doing this you will set yourself up for the success we all are striving for.

If you follow the Atkins WOE you will be surprised on how nice you will look this summer. Remember you have to exercise and also drink all the required water too, and take your suppliments.

In my plan, I do not cheat. I have found that if I cheat, then I CAN't stop. Then the next cheat is so much easier. So I donot cheat. Please consider this approach.

      The best to you.

        Hi Gals,

I can feel your pain too! Granted, I'm not old now (I'm 24) but back when I was 20 I went on Atkins and lost like 30 lbs in 3 months. It was awesome. Plus I drank Diet Pepsi like a fish because Dr. Atkins didn't limit artificial sweetners back then (at least not that I can recall). There wasn' t a limit on cheese either :joy But now that I'm doing it all over again, after being to Weight Watchers and South Beach, its not comin' off nearly as fast. I've lost about 5 lbs in 3 weeks - so I guess you could say my weight loss has almost slowed to half of what it was, even though now I'm limiting my sweetners and cheese.

Its not fair, I know. Even a few years assaulting my body with yo-yo dieting and aging a bit has an effect on how I'm able to lose. Hopefully we can keep eachother motivated for the long haul.

Becky Sue is right ... don't cheat, it just causes a whole avalanche of cheating that ultimately puts you right back where you started. The way I see it, if I wasn't losing thos few lbs per month I'd be GAINING probably double that!

You have got it Amanda! I am so proud that you are going to get your weight down at your young age and not wait til you are an old grandma like me. :yes

Some of us lose at a slower rate, but we just have to stay on plan, plan for success and go forward. We didn't get heavy overnight and it is just going to take some time to get our weight back down to normal.

We all know that in the past the cheating was what got us off the diet, so the only way to plan for success is to NOT cheat!

I am one that lost the atkins way back in the late 70's. But I ate meat, cheese, eggs and drank diet drinks. Lost fast, but I wasn't preparing myself for the long haul. Dr. Atkins has the WOE fine tuned now and we can all become successful now. DANDR (2002) is my diet bible! It has my answers.

Sorry to hear about your frustration. It is true that it can be harder when you get back on Atkins after being on before. Like one person said, drink lots of water and get back on track. One thing you might want to look at, is if your friends got you to give in, you may be dealing with little sabotagers. You have to learn to be strongest around friends and family; sometimes they mean well. And sometimes, they do it because they feel a little jealous or a variety of reasons but somehow they feel threatened by the "new you". So watch out for that. Don't worry about the stall. Once you get going good again, it should pick up. :hug
