  • Spinach confusion

    hi ya'all,

i know that spinach is part of the list "other veggies" that we can eat 1 cup a day (combined with 2 cups of salad veggies). now i'm confused, because i checked the carbs content of spinach in this website:

(which is an official, legit website), and it said that A CUP OF RAW SPINACH IS ONLY 1.02 NET CARBS.

in the space provided, i entered "spinach" (raw), then for the measurement i entered "1 cup" , then the values that came out are these:

    carbohydrate - 1.09
    fiber, dietary - 0.7

so if i subtract it, it'll yield 1.02

how come it is still in the list of "other veggies"? any explanation would be appreciated. thanks!

Because once upon a time, spinach was commonly eaten in its cooked form, not as a raw vegetable. It's probably the same reason why cabbage is on the other list too.
