  • Just starting atkins, and I need some help...

    Hi to all of you!
    Im new to atkins and just need some help with what I am supposed to eat.

    Here is what I have eaten so far

    2 eggs for breakfast
    1 cup of salad with 1 tsp of ranch dressing with some turkey for lunch
    and for dinner I was just going to have any type of meat with 1 cup of salad with 4 oz of mozerella cheese on it, does this sound good so far? I know that the ranch isnt that good, but I need just a little flavor, oh, and is Sugar free, carb free jello ok?

    It doesn't sound like enough food but it does sound okay. This WOE doesn't work if you get hungry so eat..
    Unless you can make your own sugar free jello with gelatin and splenda, its not on the list.

      I eat two sausage patties ot two strips of turkey bacon with my eggs every morning. This really curbs my appetite for the rest of the day.I eat sugar free jellos every night for dessert and am doing just fine.I have a found that drinking a lot of water is a great catalyst.

        I agree, I think you need ot eat more food during the day.

          hello JPark, welcome on board. What is in the Ranch? make sure no sugars are in there. You could always make a dressing of olive oil, vinegar and some spices.
          On Induction you must make sure to follow the phase as it is written, and not deviate from it, since little modifications or additions of not allowed things can have a negative effect. Drink your water and eat more meat. I would say to make sure you eat more meat than poultry, since chickens etc do have a higher amount of protein per gram, and that may take you off the 30-35% protein that is recommended on this phase. Remember that your fat must contribute to 65% of your caloric intake. and fat has more calories per gram compared to protein

            Log all your food into Fitday, I have found it invaluable to keep within your percentages, in fact I think you would struggle without logging your food in actually. You should try & keep within the following percentages of Calories per day 65% from fat, 30% from Protein (not 35%) and 5% from Carbs, Drink lots of water, do some exercises that you enjoy( my personal favourite is rebounding on a mini trampoline, it's like being a naughty kid again and bouncing on the bed, of course it's WAY more sophisticated and enjoy the positive changes you willl find happening eventually.

            And come here often, there is some great advice & support on here and you will soon sort the wheat from the chaff

              The jello contains aspartame - which may be a staller for some people.
              Startdate: November 18, 2007. Female 5'2"

                    Another tip is try & not weigh yourself everyday, it can be disheartening if you have an expectation of, say, a pound a day & you don't lose that, try & weigh just once a week or if you are really good don't weigh again until end of induction.

                      Debbie - you are absolutely right. I was up a pound yesterday, down two today. I vow not to weigh again until induction is over - four more days. It can ruin your day when in reality you are doing just fine.

                      1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
                      what the rungs mean to me:
                      rung 1 - more veggies
                      rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
                      rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                      rung 4 - berries, melon
                      rung 5 - wine -
                      rung 6 - beans, hummus
                      rung 7 - other fruits
                      rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
                      rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                      Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
                      (on to pre-maintenance)
