  • I think I ate something with hidden sugars..

Hello all, my name is Pete, this is my 9th day of induction and I already lost 9lbs from 270lbs down to 261lbs.

Just today, I had pork bbq (lean meat) which I ordered outside (from a grilling restaurant) I told the cook to exclude the sugars in the coating but then when I ate the bbq it didn't really taste sweet at first but the more I ate, it tasted sweet.

I am really pissed off right now because I really don't know if the bbq pieces that I ate really had sugars or not. I'm really frustrated and depressed, I don't want to restart my whole induction again just for this.

I'm even thinking of just puking it out...

Someone please help, is this really a big problem? How can I prepare for this and come back up again.

    Thank you

Wow...I imagine it's too late for puking and that wouldn't feel too good either. I say don't worry about it. You'll continue to watch your weight loss. BBQ is scary if you're not preparing it yourself but it's not worth the anxiety it's causing you right now!

I had the same experience with a meat product but I made it myself and KNEW there was nothing off plan in it. It just tasted sweet. Keep in mind, your sense of taste might be a little "off" due to ketosis. You don't have to start all over. You just have to keep going, that's all! You might feel so good in a couple of days, especially if the weight keeps falling off, you might want to extend induction a little.

So, sit tight. Hang in there. It's going to be okay!! Just pay careful attention to your foods, exercise and water intake. Those are the things that count the most. Lurking around the corner could be 250 and lower!!

If you had a mistake oh well. Jiust keep on going from where you are. You do not have to restart induction because of one mistake and the idea of throwing something up just to lose weight is just as bad as beginning to use laxative to put weight in check. Be VERY careful with doing that. 1 time can lead to a very bad habit.

Welocme to our ADBB family, Pete

As the others have already said, just keep going - you don't need to restart your 14 days induction again.

If it did contain sugar then you might feel cravings for off-plan foods, so be prepared with plenty of 'legal' foods to snack on if the 'munchies' strike!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I am sure that the problem was with the marinade. THese are full of sugars. THis is often put on the meat the day before. NOthing the cook can do about it. Restaurants are tricky. Great job so far!

yeah...this is one thing that makes me very sad about ribs. i LOVE ribs - but i know that no matter where I go 99.9% (if not 100%) of all BBQ sauce will have sugar in it.

just take this as a lesson that you can't have bbq unless you make it at home and put your own home made sugar free bbq on it.

just look at this as a learning experience and keep on going!
