  • 2 questions!

I live in Spain and cannot get a hold of the book - neither the old or the new one, and I have a little question.

Firstly I am on day 8 and I just don't feel the surge yet of energy. By about 9pm I am completely wiped out and ready for bed. I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis which is well controlled with some potent drugs that I have to take once a week (they are chemo drugs) Can it take a while for the energy boost to surface? I was a carb junkie......pasta practically every meal or rice, and bread, and loads of chocolates and sweets so I was thinking maybe it will take a wee while longer to come out my system.

The other question is what is the deal on sugar free chocolate? Can we have it and how do you work it out? Is it total carbs, less the polyols, which leaves you with the carbs that sugar. When can we introduce it into the diet?

Sorry for the questions...feel I am floundering without the books. Which I hope to have by the end of March when my friend brings it to me!

No book ordering thing in Spain? Can you get one from amazon.com?
Make sure you have read up on the rules. You can find many of those in stickies on this board.
So are you eating enough? Eating enough veggies? Taking supplements? Drinking plenty of water? Can you post a menu?

About the chocolate - I would keep away in induction. You are trying to keep addictions not feed them. Many people do not do well with sugar alcohols . They may be stallers. Some people probably can deduct the polyols but some will absorb them.
If you want to try it cocoa and nuts are on rung 3.

      Re: 2 questions!

Taltots, some fatigue is normal as your body creates the enzymes needed to switch over to a fat burning metabolism. (Or so I've read.)

After the first few days, I still would have days when I was so exhausted all I wanted to do was crawl back into bed.

What worked for me was making sure I got all the recommended vegetables.

My MAIN pick-me-up was a mock danish made in the microwave from 1/2 c. pumpkin, 1 egg, 2 oz. cream cheese, pumpkin pie spices and splenda.

I cold just FEEL the energy seeping into me as I was eating it.

The days I don't eat enough vegetables, I get back into that exhaustion mode, particularly when I exercise.

      Hope that helps.
