During my first attempt at Atkins I dropped 7 pounds during induction. It was delightfully fast. Now 3 beautiful kids later I am incredibly metabolically resistant. I have even cut out green salads and added more fat. I am in ketosis, (have the strips to check daily) and have lost two pounds and then regained it. I feel thinner but I see no change in my scale and I am trying not too get frustrated. My appetite is low and I have no desire to eat carbs. Any thoughts on how to beat the resistance?

Re: In Ketosis but no weight loss for 2 weeks
Could you post a typical menu?
What are your stats and how much do you have to lose?

Go to quick links and edit your signature. Too much info is left out of your post. Female, I'm assuming. Start weight, current weight, goal weight, height, age. All of that is important. Can you post everything you ate yesterday? That would also be most helpful. Cutting out the carbs may not be the way to go. Give us more info so we can give you helpful info.

Re: In Ketosis but no weight loss for 2 weeks
I don't know, but I'm in the same boat as you - worse, I've been gaining!! Ugh. I had started losing lbs/inches. Oh, they're all back. Just started the TOM, hoping that I may see a drop afterward.....
I really wouldn't worry about the scale, as long as you're dropping inches. This is not my first time on Atkins (been there, done that). Make sure you measure your upper arms, chest, waist, hips and thighs. Then, once a month or so, measure again. You should see steady changes. May be 1/4", may be 1/2" - either way, it's progress!!

Restart -10/18/2009 - 204.6 lbs (UGH!!!)
Goal 1 - under 200 - met 10/19/2009
Goal 2 - 190 - met 10/25/2009
Goal 3 - 180
Goal 4 - 170
Goal 5 - 160
Goal 6 - 150
Goal 7 - 140
Goal 8 - 135
Goal - To zip up current pants without sucking it in-10/25/09
Goal - To need a belt/roll waistband of current pants
Goal - To wear the next size down - 11/13/09
Goal - To wear the next size down - without a muffin top!! 11/18/09
Goal - To wear 'those' jeans (ya know - the ones in the back of the closet, hidden under a winter coat)
Day 13 - wine free/ cheat free

Re: In Ketosis but no weight loss for 2 weeks
We have had members in the past who like you had around 20 pounds or so to lose and lost absolutely nothing according to the scales in their 14 days induction. They did feel better in many other ways while eating Atkins so stuck to it and moved to OWL where they started losing and progressed through the phases of Atkins and did reach their goal weights.
AS someone with 20 pounds too many you were likely to lose between 1 and 2 pounds, which in fact you did at first from what you posted.
You are not by any chance near your 'time of the month' are you? Many of us gain several pounds before or during that TOM which usually leaves maybe with a few friends afterwards.
Have you lost inches?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: In Ketosis but no weight loss for 2 weeks
I am going to take my measurements now, guess I should have done it sooner. I know my pants are looser at the waist. Yes just went through TOM, would like to believe that is what has caused my slow down.
Thanks for the info.34 Years old

Re: In Ketosis but no weight loss for 2 weeks
ToM always slows me down. In fact, I find lately I don't even lose that week. When he leaves, I'm just back to where I was before the pms and his visit. It's been discouraging but I know I've got to do something different for different results. More exercise.

So you have lost inches!!Originally posted by runforlife5 View PostI know my pants are looser at the waist. Yes just went through TOM, would like to believe that is what has caused my slow down.
and in spite of having your TOM too
Dr Atkins actually mentions the likely problem once in DANDRIf you start Induction before or during a menstrual period, it may take longer for weight loss to register.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I probably should have read ahead...but have you taken measurements? I wouldn't drop salad greens from induction. While supplementing fiber is great, I still think it's best for our bodies to get some of it's fiber the natural way, you know?
Maybe too personal...but are you constipated? Maybe you need to "clear the system"? Ignore that last question if I crossed social boundaries!
I hope you find the answers you need.sigpic

Re: In Ketosis but no weight loss for 2 weeks
I have been reading this thread because, I too have not lost a pound. I have done the Atkins diet before, as well and the results were great. This time has been tough. I will be at 2 weeks on Saturday. I am 35, so our ages are close and I weigh 158. I too, want to lose 20 pounds. I is very incouraging to find someone in the same boat. I found the information very helpful concerning the TOM, because I did start the diet at the onset of TOM and I also stopped a diuretic and BC at the same time. I guess it makes since that it could take a week or more to level out my body's water weight. It is just hard to see no movement on the scale...at all. The ketstix show ketosis, so I am doing something right. I am exercising 30 minutes a day, and afterward the stix are dark purple and my breath gets very keto-like. My diet yesterday was bacon in the morning, I had a small salad for lunch and a piece of ham. For dinner, I had chicken breast with a little cheese and another small salad. Both salads were 1 cup of lettus and less than a tablespoon of ceasar dressing (0 carb). Thanks for the help, Elizellen and Everlosing. I am going to keep going and see what happens at the end of the week.35 Years old

Re: In Ketosis but no weight loss for 2 weeks
Glad I saw this post! It's my TOM and NOTHING is happening! I getting the right veggies, water, and fat in, but I have come to a stop and last week I dropped 7.5 pounds. I read that like days 8-13 of your cycle you burn more calories, fats and carbs...we'll see. Still focused.Peppersmon
