  • After Lunch

Oh boy! Ok I was doing terrific on this first day of induction until I ate lunch. Now I want everything under the sun. I want cereal and p-nut and jelly on crackers. I am not going to give in. WHy is it when I eat I want to binge. Does anyone ever feel this way?

    Re: After Lunch

When I feel like that, I either pop some cheese (not to exceed Atkins' recommendation of 3 - 4 ounces) or maybe have some meatballs dipped in "mega mayonnaise" (DS named it...it's mayo with a bit of mustard and horseradish). Having something savory sometimes will turn off the sweet craving.

    Hope this helps!

      Re: After Lunch

The first few days many of us had this feeling. I made sure I had plenty of 'legal' foods available so if I did overeat it was still onplan.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Re: After Lunch

I totally have those feelings!!!!! Sometimes I say if I could just not eat anything at all it would be better then to eat something and then feel like binging...

What did you eat for lunch? That is usually the first thing I look at. Was it feeling, did you feel satisfied? After verifying that I should be satisfied then I start to look at the food I ate...

          1) Did it have extra sodium? This is a killer for me, I want to eat, but honestly I just need to drink half a gallon of water and will be fine.

          2) Was it all "legal" food? If so, some foods still trigger a craving in us... for me it is cooked onions and tomatoes... raw doesn't bother me, but when they are stewed or cooked it can turn ugly...

          3) In the first days we do have some "bad" cravings so as previous poster said, have plenty of "legal" food on hand... just to get through it. Remember it is not about will power it is about planning to succeed.

Also, I have found brushing my teeth cleanse the feelings from my mouth. Eating after clean teeth not good.

          Hope that helps.

It is okay if it takes me a little longer to get there, besides this is where I'm going to stay forever and that is a really long time!!!

Make sure that you are eating foods that are satisfying to you. Mega Mayo! LOL
Yum, that makes anything taste yummy. It is quite filling also. I use the same thing, but I have never tried adding mustard to it. I have added hot sauce to mayo and it is pretty good, especially on chicken breast.

            1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:

rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
            rung 4 - berries, melon
            rung 5 - wine -
            rung 6 - beans, hummus
            rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
            Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range

Thank you Amanda for your advice. I know what you mean sometimes i feel better not eating. I hate that! I am going to try all of your tactics. Sometimes the bingeing will be triggered by 1 bite of a piece of cheese. Today is my second day And i am staying far away from the sugar cupboard. Thanks again

Yeah, Jack (my son) dubbed it "mega" because, in his words, "it's more than zesty". You can also use herb blends or cajun seasoning, or...well, the list goes one. Right now, the mayo+mustard+horseradish is the most popular.

OMG!!!! I have done the same thing... If you look on this board you will see I asked this question about cheese, didn't really get much of a response except it may have to do with allergies or yeast... Also found out we are not suppose to have American Cheese or Velveta Cheese.. If you don't mind me asking what kind of cheese do you usually eat? I have noticed this sometimes with Cheddar as well, Cream Cheese doesn't bother me as bad... Maybe together we can come up with a new therory!!!

One of the great things about Atkins is that many of us discover that certain foods affect us adversely which enables us to learn how to make a way of eating that we can stick to for life.
