  • Uh Oh!

So I have been right on target and doing really well for these past five days...until tonight. I was going to a gathering where I was supposed to be eating dinner. I had a few veggies and some cheese before going but I knew there would be salad and veggies at the gathering so I wasn't worried about bringing any food for myself. When I got there I found out that the "salad" was actually pasta salad. And the "veggies" were carrots and nothing else. I waited as long as possible and then my hunger gave in and I had SMALL (read: one spoonful of pasta..etc) helpings of the food. I did not go back for seconds however I just tested and I am no longer in Ketosis
( I also found out that my Taco seasoning I use in my taco salad w/out chips is high in carbs and sugar, and because I had that for lunch I am thinking it helped contribute).

Next time I will be prepared for sure, but I am wondering if I should start my days all over? I don't think I will have a gain tomorrow...but who knows!

Aaah! I am sooo mad at myself but I guess we live and learn.

    Thanks!!

FatBride, you didn't have a major pigout, so I'd say just get right back into induction where you left off and continue.

Check Linda's Low Carb Recipes for her awesome taco salad and her seasoning mix. I like it better than anything I've bought. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

If we had to restart counting our 14 days each time we made a bad choice or were forced by circumstances to eat off-plan some of us would never have left induction
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Don't know how your body works but I would just up my cardio the next day or so and let the extra glucose burn off. Like I said, everyone's body chemistry is different but for me, it doesn't take much in either direction.

I've always made my own Taco seasoning:

1/2 to 1 t cumin (depending on how much "back of the throat" heat you like)
              1 T chili powder
              1 t cocoa powder
              1/2 t garlic powder
              2 t onion powder
              salt and pepper to taste
1 small can (8 oz) tomato sauce (optional...taco meat doesn't need the tomato flavor, but we like it)

Cocoa powder does have carbs (2 net per tablespoon), as does the tomato sauce (don't know the info on that from the top of my head). This is the amount of seasonings I use per pound of meat. I have not had tacos/taco salad since starting induction, so I haven't popped it into FitDay yet, but I'm sure it's more carb friendly than El Paso seasoning packets!
