..<=me..I am sure I had read that i could an foods that had not carbs, or low crabs in it. I am doing fine in that..but now I am worried about the whipping cream and real cream I have been using. The whipping cream has no carbs..I use splenda to sweeten it..and top it with sugar free jello. For me, giving up sweets is a alomst impossible task!..So, the whipping cream and jello was getting me thru each day.

I am in the first week, I find myself going thru carb withdrawl..(confusion, irriable, spaced out..an other lovely things). Am I ok, keeeping up with this jello/whipcream? It does have no carbs..if not..can someone explain to me why it is not ok?...Is there another book I should get to expalin..Does Atkins have a newer version, or other books?

    Thankyou for your advice.

    Re: confused

Based on what I've been reading, everybody is different when it comes to Splenda. Remember that cream should be limited to 2 tablespoons a day (I think it's two...I don't have my book with me right now, and I'm too tired to look it up -- long night last night with sick son). For some people having any artificial sweeteners can trigger cravings for carbs. When it doubt, it's better to skip it entirely, I think. Which is what I'll be doing tomorrow, since I did over indulge today (bad choices due to fatigue, but choices that added up to minor mistakes, not major ones, thankfully!).

    Hope this helps!

That was one of the mistakes I made today...I was totally beat, and between using too much cream and too much Splenda, I exceeded my carb limits for the day.

      Hi kgirl.
What book do you have. The last book published while Atkins was around was Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) - It is the one we recommend and the one we use at this board. It has a list for foods for induction and those are the ones you are supposed to eat (and only them) - if you are confused.

Here are some threads in our FAQ that will help you.

OK about cream. It has carbs - 1.3 per fluid ounce.
Another thing about cream is that you restricted to 2-3 Tablespoons of it on induction. No more.
Sugar free jello was not something Atkins was in favour is because it has aspertame in it - a sweetener that Atkins felt stalled many people so you have to be careful as you may be one of those people.
Also remember that you can only have 3 sweetener a day - so if there is one sweetener in the Jello - one in your cream you have consumed 2 out of your 3 allowed sweetener that day.

I ate sugar free jello evry night until recently.Since leaving it off, my weight loss has improved.I like my "thinness" better than the jello.

Jack's feeling much better, but still tired, so I'm keeping him home (well, until I go to work, then he'll have to come with me!) today. I feel fully rested, thank goodness!

Here's a link to an induction food list that you can print out, then fold small enough to keep in your pocket:
