  • Just 3 pounds!

I've just completed my 14 day induction. All fine and I've even enjoyed it. I've generally had more energy and the food is great.

But I only lost a measly three pounds. I know this is normal but i can't help feeling discouraged. When I did induction in 2002 I lost 15 pounds in two weeks.

How can I keep on track?

    Thanks guys,

    Felix x

    Hi Felix, :wave

I know how you feel - I do, I lost around 18 pounds my first two weeks of Induction a few years ago. Gained all the weight back plus an additional 30 to keep it company.

Some people call it the "Golden Shot" it's that first time you try a diet see sensational, jaw dropping results and sooner or later fall off the wagon.

After the weight has been gained back people rarely if ever experience the same dramatic results again. Our bodies have remarkable memory right down to the cellular level, this is why and alcoholic can be sober for 10...20 years and it all it takes is one drink to flick that addiction switch right back on.

Right now your body is saying "Oh I know this! you're not doing THIS to me again!" But sooner or later your weightloss will increase and your body will continue to adjust to your new and healthier lifestyle.

Remember also, you can't measure the results of Atkins with a scale or tape measure - not the improvements to your overall health both physical and emotional well being. Your body has already started to heal itself, to improve itself and the three pounds you lost as opposed to gained should be celebrated, they're a victory.

Firstly, 3 pounds gone!!! Yeahhhh!!!!! Gone gone gone!!

How much weight are you wanting to lose? Generally a person will lose 5% to 10% of your desired amount within the first two weeks of Induction.

Check out this sticky on the nature of weight loss as well, it may help. :yes

And again...3 pounds gone!!! Better than 3 pounds ON, right?! :joy

If you are trying to lose around 30lbs this is actually right on target. Like moochiecat said, 5-10% of the weight you want to lose. 3lbs is 10% of 30 which would put you on the high end! Way to go! :joy

the amount of weight you lose on induction is also realtive to your total percent each pound represents when you are lighter you lose less total pounds but as they already posted the percents are the same.

You are also a diabetic and I hope you have been eatting healthier during your time off Atkins and there fore may not have had as much glycogen and water stored in your tissues as you did last time too.

Don't let that bogus golden shot stuf scare you of it has more to do with your body in 2005 is not the same compossition with the same metabolism as it was the last time you did Atkins or any weight loss plan. if you compare yourself to your last failed attemp you will become discouraged and quit so look on this as the program you have chosen as the way to permenant health and a smaller you and compare it to nothing you have ever donme before then you can be nothing but happy with every inche and every pound you shed as you become a healthier person.

          Happy low carbing.

Hi! I have been a lurker FOREVER but just signed up earlier this year (1st time post!)
Anyway, I did Atkins last year and lost 13 lbs my 1st week. I was thrilled. But when I weighed the following week I "only" lost another 1 lb. I was so UPSET! NEEDLESS TO SAY I QUIT! (This was of course the same time as when Cleo started and she's already at like 100 lbs. lost! So I not only gave up that 1 lb. BUT essentially 99 lbs as well!)
Anyway (long story short... Ha!) I have decided that on the day I weigh I am going to have raw hamburger meat thawed. That way I can measure the exact amount I lost and LOOK at it! THREE pounds is A LOT! If I would have even measured ONE pound out I would be SOOO far along on my weight loss!
Well~ There is my first post~ I look forward to posting A lOT more! I think it will keep me more focused~

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
