    i'm on third day of atkins would drinking diet coke or one cup a latte coffee per day mess with my hunger levels the book says one cup of coffee a day aloud.

    decaf coffee tends to make me tired why?

    my muscles ache and have very low energy i tend to eat when energy is low could you recommend something that would help.
    also saw a drink in marks and spencer diet florida orange o.5g of carbs per 100ml no caffine just fizzy and sweetners is this bad
    drinking water drives me mad and doesnt fulfil me sometimes should i just have a little food snack instead

    just had nice piece of fatty duck with rosemery very filling yum
    today ate
    morning eggs bacon and salad, latte full fat milk, chicken cheese, diet coke decaf coffee with cream,pack of makeral, tuna and ham mayo salad celery and sour cream dip, bacon, piece of duck and 2 litres of that orange florida stuff feel full what do yuo think has all the drinks got to go?

    Please read DANDR 2002 edition.
    Coffee will drive your blood sugar levels down causing you to have cravings and be tired. Milk is not allowed during induction. Did you know that just one 8 oz cup of milk has 13 gram of carbs in it? And all of them lactose(sugar) :yikes I would be concerned about the diet orange stuff. is it sweetened with aspartame? You should avoid it if it is. Also count the sweetener in your daily allowance. 2 liters is way too much.
    You are experiencing induction flu but if you stick it out you will fee a lot better soon.

      Carli - have you read the ingredients of the orange stuff to see what it contains?
      Doing Atkins 'by the book' means making sure all you eat doesnt contain anything not on the list of acceptable foods to avoid 'cheating' by mistake.

      And as spirittalker said - you should only have 3 servings a day of an allowed sweetener - so check how much of that drink counts as a 'serving' and work out how much of that you are allowed.
      If one 200ml glass is one serving you are allowed only 3 x 200ml glasses a day - AFTER you have drunk your 64 ounces of water plus 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose - not instead of it. And no other sweeteners at all.

      If you want sweeteners in your decaff coffee too you will have to make a choice between the coffee and the orange stuff!!

        look on this as a means to change your old eating and drinking habits. Habits that got you to the point you are today needing to lose weight.

        Break free of your old mindset liquid has to taste sweet too yes you can have a cup of decafe coffee and you can have 3 servingsd a day of swetner product containing foods or drink if you want them.

        Changing your habits now during this 14 days while your resolve to lose weight is high will help down the road when the higher carb food sireens are calling your name trying to temp you with cakes and pies and other foods that will derail your weight loss for sure.

          why is this so bad what does it do to th body
          thanks for advice i'm not stressing out this is a lifestyle change for me not a quick fix so i'm slowly ironing out all the creases should be there by the 14 day and will stay on induction until i reached i weight loss i'm happy with.

          the coffee definatly now going to switch to decaf may still have to have a lattee and phase it out over few days thanks wil steer clear of sodas

          would that be a reason why i haven't hit ketosis yet because day 3 and my hunger hasn't really dimished all that much have taken appetite supressiants is that bad and wil they affect it as well they don't seem to work for me anyway?

            well in basic terms it means when caffeine has stimulated your insulin to come out and play your fats have to go to their rooms (fat cells) andstay there until insulin is done playing and that means all fat body and dietary sooooooooooooo don't do anythingto let that meanie insulin play any more then we absolutly need it to be out.

              Also bear in mind that you're probably addicted to caffeine, and you'll feel tired and maybe have a headache for a few days as you go though caffeine withdrawal. It'll pass.

                Hi, Carli!

                When I went into induction it was awful, too! I had no energy, in my diet diary I wrote "I hate this!" BUT...it is SO worth it! It took me about 2 weeks to feel my energy increase and hunger to go away. I am still fighting the coffee thing; I had decaf 3 times last week instead of regular, am down to 1/2 to 1 cup so I know what you are going through. I know they say the keto sticks don't really reflect an intensity of ketosis but, with me, as soon as I have coffee they go much lighter so I know it's making a negative impact. Also, if I have ANY fake sweetner I immediately go out of ketosis - something to think about with the orange drink. I would fight it out without the orange stuff - it's just keeping your pallate trained for sweet things anyway - and keep lowering your caffeine slowly so you don't get a headache. I read you can reduce to 1 cup quickly but take the 1/2 cup elimination slowly. Then again, I also have heard of people just up and quitting so I know it can be done.
