  • 9 days in...

Well - I'm 9 days in and 5 pounds down. I lost 3 pounds practically in the first day and suffered the atkins "flu" for the first 3 days. Complete caffeine withdrawl made me almost incapable for me to focus at work because my head would hurt so bad. To alleviate this I simply have a 1/2 cup of coffee each morning with whipping cream and splenda. Even though it is against the rule I was in need of a fix and for the rest of the day I only drink water or crystal light (love crystal light!) Tomorrow I'm going to give it up completely crossing my fingers for no headaches. I've stuck to lots of meat, veggies, cheese and eggs. My favorite snack is the Atkins chocolate chip granola bars ... they are sooo good and a perfect treat!

I am worried I'm going to be at a standstill by day 14 and still just have the 5 pound weight loss. I want to know if there is something more I can aside from get up an actually exercize or if anyone has any advice?

I'd like to lose 20 more pounds by mid July to be down to 145 and at first thought it was so reasonable based on all that I was reading on here - but now I'm beginning to wonder if that is possible?

    Any tips or pointers???

aepole, congratulations on the 5 pound loss and on tackling that caffeine addiction!

The main problem I see is the chocolate chip granola bars. They aren't legal on induction. I know the Atkins website says they are, but Dr. Atkins said to eat NOTHING that wasn't on the allowed foods list.... and we do go by the book here.

They cause some people to stall. And even if they don't, you can't conquer your sweet tooth addictions while eating them.

Although it varies by your individual metabolism, 20 pounds my mid July sounds like a very reasonable goal to me.

The VERY best of luck to you... and so glad you joined us!

Great job on the loss so far! My advice would be to not be afraid to move into OWL after induction (unless you are metabolically resistant, and you don't have a lot to lose). Also, I would be wary of the Atkins bars. I've read some posts recently about the atkins products, and they seem to stall some people and contain ingredients that are not legal on induction. See post below:

Again, congratulations on the 5 lb loss!

Wow, I would have never thought about them making me stall out! THANK YOU! I will for sure give these up for awhile and see where it takes me - sad to see them go because they ARE so good!

Thanks for the help and I'll let you know what happens by day 14!

I also would recommed drinking your water clean. You have to drink at least 64 oz of water clean - if you add stuff it is no longer water.
Also count sweeteners. You are limited to 3 aday.
congratulations on losses. That is great

aepole, I was eating the Atkins bars at the beginning too. I thought they were legal and the were satisfyling my sugar cravings..After a couple of days I no longer craved the "sweets". Also I was told not to drink Crystal Light (my fav too), because of the aspertame in it.
