I am on day 4 of induction and I have been very careful-so I thought- recording on FITDAY every oz. of everything I consume, including water and any seasonings. For breakfast I have been having bacon and eggs. Today, I looked on the package and saw the bacon had been "brined?" in sugar. SUGAR!!! MY ENEMY SUGAR!!! I am sure for the veteran Atkineers, this is old news, but really, I had NO IDEA!!! I assumed the bacon would have referred to the sugar content if that was going to be an ingredient. You know, " Sugar Cured Bacon", or something like that!! Nope.
I am bummed out by this as I have worked so hard this week to do Induction the right way, and subsequently break my sugar obsession. I have lost 6lbs so far, so I am not complaining about the results, but I wonder what could have been if I had checked the labels more closely....
Anyways, for those of you who do not know... Please check the labels. Sugar lurks everywhere!
