No need to take Atkins vitamins: you can look for a good multi-vitamin(remember, no iron). Lots of folks use Centrum Silver. I go to GNC and use their iron-free multi.
Also check out the Supplements forum for additional advice about other supplements you might need.
Some folks (myself included) take potassium to combat leg cramps, and others (also myself, but I stopped after a while) take Chromium to combat cravings.
There's more than that as well, but you're best to check out the vitamin forum. :yes

Your plain-jane Walmart, Target, Grocery store special multi-vitamin is all you need. While the COQ-10, L-Carnintine, etc. may help or speed weightloss, reduce cravings, make you healthier, you don't NEED to be taking them to lose..Kent - 35-M-6'4"

Hi BigJay,
Atkins vitamins and supplements are outrageously over priced - it's price gouging gone mad. If you consider Dr Atkins recommended dosages against the portion and mg, IU or mil of any of their products you'll be in the poor house in no time.
You can do better and get more bang for your buck - but you have to shop smart.
Remember unlike the pharmaceutical Industry that is accountable to the FDA - manufactures of vitamins and supplements answer to no one. Hence, they're free to slap any claim on a bottle they want, use sub quality ingredients and deliver a fraction of the dose promised on the label.
A recent study by Consumerlabs found 16 major brands of L-Carnitine to have a fraction of the amount of L-Carnitine declared on the label and one had Zero.
Good and reliable brands include: Natures Bounty, TwinLab, The Vitamin Shoppe, Natures Best and almost all of your supermarket/ drug store brand names like One-a-day and Centrium.
A good minimum base for you be:
- *multiple vitamin - Iron free
*Super complex B&C
*Flax Oil
Flax and Fish oil are a potent source for Omega 3 oils, and important to take while doing Atkins. Go with the Flax, it helps you burn fat, gives you energy and it loaded with other beneficial qualities - a good brand, well rated is Spectrum.
When your budget allows, pick up a copy of Dr. Atkins Vita Nutriant Solution, it's a great source of information and a fast enlightening read. At some point you might want to consider adding other supplements like CoQ10, Tonalin CLA and L-Carnitine not just for weight loss but significant overall health benefits.
For right now? Cover yourself with something like One-a-Days carbsmart, the B&C Super complex, the Flax Oil and you're good to go.
Hope this helps,
Peter
