  • Starving!!!

I'm on Induction Day 3, and I am starving!! It's 10:30 at night, and I can't get to sleep because I'm so hungry. I think I've eaten pretty close to my 1500 calories and 10 net carbs for the day. What can I do?

Have a high fat snack and then go to bed. Don't be afraid to eat. We do not count calories in induction just carbs. Starving is not good it makes bloodsugar unstable. So eat.

      Re: Starving!!!

      Thanks, Liv.

I've just been reading lots of other posts here, and I think I can identify some other issues that may be affecting my hunger & my possible weight loss:
--I have a diet soda every day. This is a hard one to give up, but I'm going to try.
--I had an Atkins bar & 2 Atkins shakes today. The Atkins web site says this is ok, but I've read some good posts here disputing that.
--I flavor my water with Crystal Light.

What can I say? I'm a sweet addict. But that's why I'm here!

        Re: Starving!!!

Abigail Induction is 20 carbs a day with half of those from veggies. Ten is way too low. And, during Induction you may need to eat more to satiate yourself while your body adjusts. I would suggest 1800 a day for the first three or four days, then scale back as you adjust to the WOE. No wonder you are hungry. Eat fatty things to keep you from feeling hungry.

Cheese, avocado, deviled egg, slices of pepperoni or a cold slice of chicken with a mayo or pesto topping. I get the feeling you havn't read the book. Am I right?

        FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Time to let those sweets go. I would be hunry too if I ate that much sugar (even if it is fake sugar the brain can still treat it like sugar and let your system go crazy on you. Cut them out. You are only allowed three a day and with shakes, bars, soda and crystal light you are way over your limit.
Cut down on frankenfood (Atkins products) use whole food, real veggies, eggs, fats, mayo. Drink water without anything in it. This one is super important.

I know it is not easy. But this is why Atkins wanted us to go cold turkey and do clean inductions for 14 days. We have to fight the sugar monster. Not give into it.

Those shakes and bars are expensive... you'll feel a lot better, and so will your wallet, if you replace them with whole foods- meat and lots of green veggies on induction. Once I cut out that fake sugar crap, my skin got clearer, my appetite went way down, and I felt much more energetic!

Where did you get the number 1500 calories? The beauty of Atkins is that we don't count calories. If you do not have a copy of the book, please order it now. You will not be able to succeed if you don't read it. At least read the stickies at the tops of all the forums. There is a ton of great information there.
