And was it decaff? The title of the post says decaff, and if so, it's okay. I drink decaff with cream.

Decaffeinated beverages like coffee and tea are alright to drink, BUT they do not count towards the daily water requirement. So if you have enough room to drink 2 cups of black coffee on top of your 64 ounces of water plus 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you are overweight, go for it.

Just be sure to count the carbs in that coffee. 8 ounces of decaf coffee or tea has 1 net carb.

Caffiene has a lot of different effects. But for the purposes of this diet, caffiene is bad because it lowers your blood sugar which causes cravings and an exagerrated insulin response when you finally do get food into your system.

But if he was drinking decaff coffee, as the title of your thread implies, then he was getting at least 5 mg of caffiene per 8 ounces. So if anything, this was probably more of a placebo effect for him than a real effect.
