  • Serving size help

If I have a ham & cream cheese roll up, and the amount of cream cheese is the equivalent to the size of my index finger, what amount would that be? 1 ounce? Anyone have other other easy to remember portion size tricks? I heard 1 ounce of regular cheddar cheese is the size of your index finger - or the same as a string cheese. And 4 ounces of meat is the size of the palm of your hand. Any other tips? I have a really hard time with veggies. I buy broccoli in "bunches" that are tied together w/ a large blue rubber band. How do I know how many bunches make 1 cup? Same with mature onions. Thanks for any help.

Well, maybe I'm anal, but I measure. I bought a kitchen scale, and I weigh. I'm pretty good at measuring many things by eye now, but because I'm on OWL, I'm measuring more again.

      Kremo,

Pick yourself up a small kitchen scale and a large Pyrex measuring cup, before you know it you'll be able to measure everything by sight. Just like learning to bartend you use the jigger a while and before you know it you can pour a perfect ounce in your sleep.

Most cream cheese "bricks" are 8 ounces, so if you divide your brick into 8 equal pieces, each portion will be 1 ounce.

yep pre cut your chease briks if they are 8 ounces into 8 pieces and you got your 1 ounce serving size it doesn't matter if they aren't exact cause you will eat a little more one severing and a little less on the next. when you check out ask how much your broccoli weighed then divid it up buy the amount you should be having in a serving and that is the total number ofservings you need to count your brocolli as. Of course it would be much easier to by measuring cups and a kitchen scale.

          Happy low carbing.
