  • So frustrated..........

    Why did I do it?

    lol

    After 6 days on induction I dropped from 206 - 201
    So pleased with myself.

Weighed myself a day early because I knew I'd start gaining as I am due my monthly cycle.
I normally gain 4-5 lbs at this time of the month and on the second day of my period I normally loose it all.

But I weighed myself this morning didn't I.
    I weighed 204.6

Now I'm freaking I did something wrong and gained actually weight.
But I am due my cycle any day now.

I normally give up as soon as the scales show I put on a few lbs.
But for now I will put this down to my cycle. And carry on and hopefully be back to normal in a weeks time and maybe even have lost 2 or 3 lbs more.

    Height 5'9
    Start Weight - 206lb ( 30.4 ) - 13/03/09 (Obese)
    Goal Weight 1 - 196lb ( 28.9 ) - 03/04/09 (Overweight)
    Goal Weight 2 - 189lb ( 27.9 )
    Goal Weight 3 - 182lb ( 26.9 )
    Goal Weight 4 - 168lb ( 24.8 ) (Healthy)
    Goal Weight 5 - 161lb ( 23.8 )
    Goal Weight 6 - 154lb ( 22.7 )
    Goal Weight 7 - 150lb ( 22.1 )

The only thing you did 'wrong' was to let the scales affect your thinking

It might be better not to weigh every day for a while if you recognise that seeing these normal weight fluctuations (that everyone gets whether on Atkins or not) is liable to make you want to give up.

So maybe ignore the metal monster till your 14 days on induction are over then use the losses to estimate your likely metabolic resistance to weightloss from the chart in DANDR and move on to the next phase of Atkins.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Re: So frustrated..........

The scales will torture you...if you are really truly determined to do this, you have to keep charging ahead--even if you wake up one morning and your scales have you up 10 lbs--which is so unlikely. You really have to look at the big picture--where you want to be a year or two from now. Also, if you gain a pound here or there or stall for a long period of time, I advice is to tweak, tweak, tweak!! Hang in there.

stay off the scales....quit worrying about it. can you tell me the point of weighing everyday? there isnt one unless you have a cardiac condition.

you knew what you were in for before you stepped on them. be honest with yourself.

now let's keep pushing forward. get over....move on....simple as that.

I agree -- put the scales away and don't think about it...it will truly drive you batty and there is no reason for doing this to yourself. I read where so many people get on the scale several times a day - for what reason? I started out and weighed once a week....over time I've decided to weigh every other Monday morning, or once a month.

This should be a time of your life to celebrate what you can accomplish - staying off the scales will help you stay on plan and enjoy your life.

Yep, I agree with the others. If the results from the scales can make you want to give up then stay away from them and measure instead or try on some jeans a size too small and keep on trying them once a week. x
