  • Day 7: No weight loss & I feel crappy! Help!!!

I have been in the induction phase for 7 days. I read the "Atkins Essenitals Book" and have been following the rules religiously and have the Atkins Gram Counter in my purse at all times. Goal: 150 looking to get down to 130ish (I need to get rid of pouch on my lower tummy and my lovehandles).

Story: I felt like I was dying in day two. I woke up with the hugest headache and was physically sick and almost didn't make it to work. I thought that was a good start according to the books I've read.

I used to eat a lot of sugar and drink coffee/soda every day and used to drink wine 3-4x a week. I have gone cold-turkey as I started Atkins. I have been drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day, taking my vitamins, eating my 20 net carbs (or less) per day and no progress.

I have had a headache off and on for the entire week and have felt SOO tired all week because I am not really sleeping that great. Because I have been very low energy I have not started exercising yet.

Is this normal?? In the book and blogs I've read, apparently people have felt on top of the world by this point and lost at least something by now. When I review the book, I feel that I have stuck to very thing 100%

    Any suggestions??

Could you share one or two menus with us?

        Your menu looks good.

I'd say you are feeling crappy from caffeine withdrawal, but I didn't have any symptoms when I went off it, so I'm not sure how long they are supposed to last.

About the weight loss. Wait until the end of Induction. You don't have much to lose, so it will come off quite slow. Once you feel better, exercise should speed things up.

Mirbill, I felt awful for the first three weeks, long after most people are over induction flu. I think it hits some of us harder than others.

It DOES pass if you hang in there.

It looks like you are doing everything right.

Since you only need to lose 20 pounds, and since you can normally expect a 10% weight loss in the first two weeks, you should most likely drop at least two pounds by the end of the two-week period.

So give it time. It does work!

I agree with everyone else, since you only have 20 pounds or so to lose, its going to come off slower. So you have given up caffeine too? You've got withdrawls coming out the wazoo, no wonder you feel so bad!
