  • Should I buy a smaller dress?

We're having a special employee sale at work at the end of the week, and I had planned to buy a couple of dresses. I wear a dress almost every day.

I've been a size 10 for a while (actually, size 10 was starting to get a little snug when I started Atkins), but I used to be a size 6 in the not so very distant future.

So... should I buy 2 spring/summer dresses in a size 8 to motivate me? Or is it just silly to buy something that's too small for me now?

If you find motiviation in it, then it's not silly! I did that with a pair of jeans (on accident). Didn't try them on, just bought them. Brought them home, they were too tight. That was one of my motivators for starting atkins actually. I had always been a 6-8, these were 8's. I refused to go up a size, and I'm glad I didn't, because now they fit comfortably!

I would! I bought a pair of jeans last weekend that were too tight to do up, but they were awesome and they will fit me in a few weeks

OK, I'm going to do it. I'm nervous about it, but I have to get SERIOUS about losing weight. I've lost & gained the same 10 lbs several times in the past 2 years. This time needs to be for real.

I think it's a great idea! I had to buy new jeans (in my current size). I also bought 2 more pairs, on purpose... the next two sizes down. That way I have goals right there in front of me.

              Good luck!

This is a wonderful idea, I was thinking of it too. I saw this cute hot pink dress at Macys and am going to buy it 3 sizes smaller, yup 3! Its expensive so I know I will want to fit in it! LOL good luck!
