  • Day 8 and still STARVING all the time!

I thought ketosis was going to curb my appetite, but it feels like just the opposite. I can't remember ever being this hungry all the time.

I ate almost 2000 calories yesterday, and I was still hungry. That's obscene! I never eat that much.

    What am I doing wrong?

      Here's my Fitday public profile:

I wish I hadn't eaten so many Atkins products yesterday, but I was just soooo hungry and no time for grocery shopping because I was working.

Not sure if this is right but when I follow that link there is only a few things on it. Not nearly enough food. I think its the wrong link because you said you ate 2000 calories. Also most people here will tell you that Atkins products are NOT allowed during induction.

          Oops -- by the way....

Those Daybreak bars apparently only have 3g NET CARBS, even though the carbs look so much higher. The alcohol was my attempt to put alcohol sugars into Fitday -- which wasn't very effective. At any rate, Atkins assures me that there are only 3 net carbs in those bars, even if they can't make it clear on the nutritional info.

So my total net carbs for the day was close to 15.

The link automatically takes you to the current day. On the right hand side, you can go back to yesterday.

I bought the Atkins products before joining these boards, and have been using them out of desperation -- starvation & no time to shop.

I'd say it's the alcohol and the Atkins type products. There's a list on here somewhere (maybe stickied on this board,) that states very specifically what you can and can't have. It's not really a matter of just staying under 20g of carbs during induction but what kind of carbs you eat, and how your body processes them.

              Edit:
Here's the rules of induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html
and the list of acceptable foods: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html

I think you need to start eating other things rather atkin products. You had 5 yesterday. I also think that is why you are starving. You should try to do this right. You are starving and not making any progress which isnt what the goal is here. I think you should make time to go shopping and get chicken, lean meats, tune and veggies. Make food ahead of time if you have to. I dont think eating like this will truly help you. If you see the people that have lost the weight do not have the atkin products and follow the program.

Okay. The bars first. The reason why they are not allowed during Induction (despite what the Atkins company says) is because they contain soy, milk or peanuts. None of these is on the list of foods acceptable during Induction. Then they also have sugar alcohols. Sugar alcohols are lovely -- they either give you monstrous bathroom issues (which means that your body is not metabolizing them, so no need to count them towards your net carbs) or they don't (in which case your body is processing them as net carbs). So it's pretty much a lose-lose situation. If your body metabolizes them, then they will raise your blood sugar... hence the hunger/cravings.

So cut the bars off your menu, eat real food... and the hunger will go away.

Hi hun, im no expert but i agree with the others atkins bars are not allowed on induction and I have thus far not had any. What are you making with your eggs i.e a 3 egg omelete made with mushrooms or peppers is really filling and quick to make. I know its tough when your in a hurry but if you can try to sit down and eat something you will feel fuller than just grabbing and running IYKWIM.

Just a note here. Eating lean meats is not necessary -- fatty cuts are also fine. However, if you do prefer lean meats, make sure you keep your fat intake up (~65% during Induction).

I eat bacon and fried eggs so I use up a lot of fat with butter and bacon so I choose to eat leaner meats or my fat intake would be way higher than 65%.

Hi! I know how hard it is to be in a hurry but in the morning while I am running around getting the twins ready I put some eggs on to boil and some sausage patties in a pan on low then I just throw the eggs (with the shells) and the patties in a tupperware. I peel them at work and eat away. I also keep some pepperoni and cheese (2 oz) in plastic baggies so I can just grab. When I do have time to cook I make ALOT of tuna salad, grilled chicken breast and shrimp salad. Hope that helps

You aren't supposed to count calories, you are supposed to count carbs... Sometimes I have 3000 calories, but only 20 carbs (not net carbs) and I lose just fine. It's the carbs (at least 20) that kills the hunger. If you don't eat enough carbs you are dooming yourself.

Save your atkins products for later. Don't count net carbs, count real carbs during induction... you can save the net carb food for OWL or maintenance.

If you are eating the right foods and eating as much of them as you want, you will not be hungry... I promise

cut the atkins frankenfoods, lower the cheese intake and make sure the cheese you do eat isn't processed, use real butter, eat a variety of veggies with more fiber. only 1125 of your calories that day were from actual food.
