Hello there! I am not sure if we are allowed to do this. I hope so. I read your stats and it looks like we have the same goals. I was a size 14 when I started induction and have lost aproximately 10 lbs the first 8 days of induction. I want to get to a size 6 also that means I have to drop about 30 more lbs. Can you tell me how long it took you to get to the size 8/10? Any advice would be great. Did you more to OWL right away or did you extend? I havent lost weight in 2 days but I am not sweating it I know it wont come off everyday. I am on day 10 of induction and feel tired. But it will pass, this time there have been days where I feel really good and then really bad. TIA

Re: Georgianna
Hi, Cindy!
Wow, a thread with my name. How did I miss this?
Let's see... Long story coming.
I started Atkins in December 2007 (can't remember the exact date) and I have no clue what my weight was then, because I didn't have a scale. I didn't have a book either (I had a German book about Atkins, but it wasn't very useful), so I did things a little wacky -- the main problem was a very low fat intake and counting total carbs instead of net carbs. My calories must have been pretty low too, but I wasn't tracking stuff in Fitday. I did this for 1-2 months and then discovered ADBB. I'm sure I didn't lose one dress size in these 1-2 months, but I really have no idea how much I lost.
So, I discovered ADBB and restarted Induction. Still without book (I'm actually horrified reading my first posts
). Somewhere around Feb 1st I bought a scale and I was 164 lbs... at least that's what my Stats say. For someone who didn't have a lot to lose, I did a horribly long Induction (for 6 weeks, not counting the time before ADBB). Of course, my weight loss stalled.
Started OWL on Feb 9th, still without book (I managed to get my hands on a book sometime in March). Did OWL until June... and went down to a size 8-10 (at 148 lbs). I was exercising daily for 30 min - 1 hour, but nothing spectacular. In June I went for an internship in the US... and blew the whole diet because... well, i can come up with many excuses for this, but the truth is that I was still seeing Atkins as a diet. Bad me! So I went up to a size 10-12 (around 160 lbs).
I restarted Atkins, properly, in September. No cheats since then, but only lost something like 3 lbs. Now I'm 157 lbs and back to size 8-10. However, I do exercise more than I did in Jan-Jun -- 5x a week, around 2 h per day.
So, the first time it took me about 6 months to lose 15 lbs and go from 12-14 to 8-10. This time it took me almost 7 months to lose 3 lbs and go from 10-12 to 8-10.

Re: Georgianna
Well, maybe I was 161 or 162... I don't have it handy. But you see, if I had thought of Atkins as a diet, I would have been discouraged. However, it's the way I eat now, so whether I lose weight or not, there's nothing more I can do. Besides, I feel much better eating this way than eating carbs, so the weight loss is just a bonus.Originally posted by cindy8434 View PostWow! Georgianna, it took you 7 months to loose 3 lbs? You are quite a trooper I would have been discouraged. Is that normal? I think its great that you have stuck it through though.
On the other hand, I don't have much to lose (size 8-10 or 6-8 it's more a matter of vanity
), so I know someone who has 50+ lbs to lose is in a totally different position than I.

Re: Georgianna
I missed your question. I'm not sure if it's "normal". Depends how you define "normal" I guess... Some people lose weight and inches very fast. Some lose weight faster than inches. I lose weight quite slow, but inches come off a little faster."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Georgianna
hi georgiana, its me the sleeping pill girl lol.
i just wanted to say that you probably lose inches quicker than weight (on the scales) because you're losing fat which weighs less than muscle.whereas some people might lose alot of water and/or muscle leading to a lighter weight, but infact not so much slimmer
so all in all your body sounds to be in good shape
more muscle mass= faster metabolism
