  • OMG- green beans!

Are they really over 10 carbs per cup???? I just put it into fitday and that's what it said! Please tell me this is off.
I will stay on my diet. I will get healthy and lose weight. There is nothing I could eat or drink that tastes as good as how I feel at this moment on this WOE ~ nothing!

Those are total carbs for a cup of cooked green beans (based on some random recipe). You should measure your foods raw, enter them raw in FitDay and add separately all the ingredients you've used.

A cup of raw green beans has 7.8 g total carbs and 3.7 g dietary fiber... so that's 4.1 g net carbs.

There are some vegetables that significantly reduce their volume when cooked, so when the book says you should eat 3 cups of vegetables, what is meant is 3 cups of raw vegetables.

Am I doing something wrong with fitday then? I put in 1 cup raw and got over 10 carbs. Why is it not factoring in the fiber automatically??

          Re: OMG- green beans!

Are you entering "Beans, string, green, raw"? This item has the carb count I listed above.

FitDay does not compute net carbs, only total carbs and dietary fiber.

yep you have to look down below the food you've put in to where it lists the fiber underneath the carbs, and subtract.

              Re: OMG- green beans!

I don't see a column for fiber on mine!!! I thought fitday just calculated net carbs because I did not see a fiber column. Boy that sure would change my last few days using it! Why am I not seeing a listing for fiber?

BTW, I see how some people are able to put a link to their fitday, but I cannot. When I try to copy and paste the address bar it takes someone to the login instead of my actual day. Can anyone help with that? Thanks.

Dont know why you cant paste the link but if you look on the bottom left there is another set of numbers in fine print, that is where the fiber is so just subtract it from you carbs that will be your net carbs for the day.

                  Re: OMG- green beans!

You need to set a 'nutrition goal' for fiber to make sure fitday displays the fiber carbs so you can deduct them to get your net carbs.

There is a sticky thread somewhere with instructions on how to allow us to see your fitday account - I will paste a link to it in a mo'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Ok, I think I have it. Let's see if it works now!

Do you think that the calories are ok? I know we don't go by calories but at my weight I do not want my body to get to little. I am not real hungry throughout the day so I am guessing I am ok. I may add a stalk or two of celery with cream cheese later as a snack. Thanks!

Green beans are allowed during Induction as long as you limit them to 1 cup per day.

Looks good. I'm not sure how many cups are in your salad, but make sure you have 3 cups of vegetables in total. Since you are eating 1 cup of green beans, you should have 2 cups of Cobb salad.

If you are not hungry, then your calories are okay. If you are hungry, then you can add a snack or another meal later.
