  • Snack Ideas/Recipies and Allowed Snacks

    Hi there!

So, as wierd as this sounds since I started the Induction phase 2 days ago I have been CRAVING salt and crunchy foods. I'm afraid this is because of my previous snaking habits where I sended to have a lot of salt (I love crackers!).

I'm also having a hard time coming up with snacks that really are acceptable. And I'd hate to use up my veggie ration because I LOVE salad. And I have one cup a day of the other -nonsalad- vegtables with dinner.

BUT: I am despirate for good snacks. So maybe you guys can help me? What are your favorite snacks? What's easy to make but relitivly filling?

PS: Are pork rinds ok? I've heard mixed things.

    <3 you all!

Pork rinds are "legal", but if you eat them as "chips", they are still junk food, imo. They have a lot of sodium, which can cause water retention. Besides, if you are a salty/crunchy food junkie, Induction is the best time to kick the habit.

Snack ideas: leftovers, boiled eggs (or deviled eggs), cheese, tuna salad, avocado, olives...

Personally, I like to make little plates with olives, sharp cheddar cheese slices and boiled eggs. I grab a book, run a bath and munch on my little snack. I've found that by cutting up the items on the plate more, the snack lasts about the same time that my previous snacks used to which takes care of those urges. If you're really wanting a "crunchy" texture, maybe try cooking up some crispy bacon.

Pork rinds are wonderful for this and completely legal.

          That's a great tip!

They say part of the whole dining experience is the way food is presented on a plate----which is why restaurants spend time arranging foods just-so on the plate.

I also like foods you have to "work for" to eat. Like boiled eggs, you have to peel before eating or making a lettuce wrap. That makes you slow down and forces you to taste your foods.

Another really easy snack is to mash 1 oz cream cheese up with chives and seasoning salt, then spread it onto 2 celery stalks. Then cut the stalks up into bite size pieces.

            Satisfying, crunchy and good tasting.

Pickles can sometimes cure my salt cravings.
And cheddar cheese "crackers". (Cheddar cheese melted into a cracker in the microwave)

Personally, I cook pepperoni in the microwave until it's crunchy and dip in ranch. Way high sodium, so watch qty. BUT I love this, and it's a good break from eggs

Great ideas, is there any other way to mix up celery and cream cheese?
