  • Atkins Induction: Book vs. Site

    :sarcasm

So I only lost two lbs this week. It's my fault. A friend flew into town and I had to take him to Ethiopian food because that's the famous ethnic food here. For those who don't know, it's mostly lentils and grains and you have to eat everything with Injera (a spongy bread made of teff flour and white flour). I also cheated yesterday with the pastry tray at work.

So now I have to start over, as it were. Which is fine. I didn't really intend on leaving induction anytime soon... unless i was just completely and utterly bored.

SO HERE'S THE QUESTION---> If induction is supposed to be clean, like the book says -why is it that the official website has all these yummy recipies in induction, that calls for "frakenfoods" like lowcarb tortillas and atkins breadmix and such. Have they revised the book lately? I don't keep up with these things. I just have the 02 copy....

(Btw, why use atkins breadmix when you can buy soy flour for so much less?)

At this board we advocate the use of the 2002 version, so stick with that.

It's unfortunate that Atkins Nutritionals has dollar signs in it's eyes, and has started to stray from the original way of eating that Dr. Atkins endorsed.
We are all disappointed in the big contradictions we're seeing between the book and the website (i.e.: grains are not allowed unti OWL, and yet they have low carb tortillas on their Induction menu and so on)
    It's confusing as all heck!
They say they are offering modern consumers more options, but with a little planning, these frankenfoods are not necessary.

My philosopy is that I know for sure what a lettuce leaf will do to my body, so I choose to wrap my foods in that. I'm not so sure what a processed low-carb tortilla will do, know what I mean?
I know that DANDR 2002 works!! Look around the site, and check out the Before and After Pic forum...that's DANDR in action.

I think some of the low fat diet people lost their jobs and went to Atkins and trying to convert people back to the old wrong WOEs...either that or greed is getting the better of them and so they are making it more palatible to the low fat dieters and going for profits rather than the correct way...the idea behind the changes is the same as "only one little bite won't hurt" that gets transformed into..."oh one minor change won't hurt."
