  • Last day on induction, results

Ok, today is my last day on induction. I have lost 10 lbs. The thing is I lost those 10 lbs in the first 9 days, since then I have lost nothing. I feel good about the 10 lbs but feel like I have stalled a bit. When I have done low cal in the past I have lost weight consistently and almost every day. I am just concerned with the fact that I didnt loose even 1/2 a lb in 5 days or so. I am moving on to OWL tomorrow to see if it gets better. I am excercising a lot now more than when I started and am doing a squeaky clean induction. Hopefully OWL will get it going again. I have decided to give Atkins 3 more weeks to see the progress and then consider the best plan of action. I am looking to change my life here and will do what it takes. I know this is a WOE and that many are Atkin lovers, and think this is the best way to live regardless of loosing the weight, I respect that. I cant say I love this WOE but am willing to put in the effort and keep it if it works. If not I will have to move on to what does for me. Thanks everyone for your support.

Congratulations on your loss. It is very common to see a bit of pause in the loss in the second or third week so you are right on track with that.
Did you measure as well? The exercising may be a factor here and may make you gain muscle while losing fat - the only way to tell if that is going on would be to measure.
    Hope you enjoy OWL

You have done great on induction! I don't understand why you are concerned you didn't lose weight the last few days though....if you were on weight watchers you might have lost a total of 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I'm almost done with induction and am down 4.8 pounds right now, with 3 days to go. I'm a slow loser, but a loss is a loss.

Good luck with OWL! I am looking forward to OWL and eating more veggies

i lost 5lbs of weight the first week only 3 the second week . I have been at atkins for 24 days. I did eat atkins bars on days 5 through 10 and stopped losing weight. So make sure to be safe you stick to only whats in the book. I am still not really losing anything i am sitting at 220 for that last week. I also bought the treadmill and used it everyday since saturday except yesterday. I dont know why its not coming off i am a inch smaller in the waist and 2" in the rib 1"less in neck and biceps. thats the only thing that keeps me going. I didnt measure untill 3/19/2009 so i have no idea how big i was when i first started.
Even though the scale says 220 get off me the tape measure hugs me closer and closer each week.

no worries cindy, I lost my first 10 on day 8, and then fluctuated between 8-10 for the eight days. up and down up and down! Today is day 16, and I JUST broke it this morning by half a pound. Its just how your body works, be patient!

This proves you are losing FAT in spite of what those pesky scales are saying!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thats the thing I have lost no inches at all. I actually did weight watchers before and lost weight consistently it averaged out to 4-5 lbs per week. Like I said I am good with the 10lbs and I will give it a few more weeks, but if I do not loose weight in 2-3 weeks I think I will then re consider my options. I guess I am a bit of a skeptic because I have not done Atkins long term before. However I think it is the easiest way of eating vs low cal/low fat but I really want this weight off and want to make every choice I make a healthy one from now on, no matter what it takes. If I loose inches I wont care what the scale says but so far zilch. Thanks everyone!

Atkins is zig-zag weight loss... Down down, across... down, across... If you were to chart your weight loss on a grid that's what it would look like... Right now you are in the across part... Your body will decide when it wants to start the next down segment. Putting a time requirement on your body is trying to take control. (If I don't lose such and such by such and such date then I'm gonna quit and gain it all back...) Not a smart thing to do... You have to TRUST your body. Stay in ketosis and give it a 'few months', not a couple of weeks... You didn't gain the weight in a matter of weeks, you won't lose it that way either...

Low calorie diets and low fat diets don't rely on ketosis to lose weight. The weight loss is slow and steady. Atkins is not like that. Atkins is more fast/stop... fast/stop... Once you realize that and know that after a stop your body will lose again... you will be more confident during the stop periods and not so willing to jump ship...

I lost 10lbs on induction and then nothing for a whole week... now I've just lost another pound, so I know now I'm back on the down segment and I'm just hoping it goes down for at least 5 lbs... but if not, well hey, at least I'm maintaining and not gaining...
